Default Elementalist (e/mo) Dragon Moss Farming ^^

Hi,

This is my first farming build ive posted, its mainly to see if anyone has any better ideas how to run this (bar make a 55 monk -.-

EDIT - For 55 monking try,

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...n+moss+farming

Before you do anything, you have to have the "A New Escort" Quest.

You get that quest from a random NPC in Brauer Academy.

The build i use is a kind of combo - Earth magic + smite and healing, i tried the standard geomancer build, which didnt work.

My skills, from left to right.

1: Armor of earth
2: kinetic Armor
3: Silver Armor
4: Shield Of Judgement
5: Healing Breeze
6: Essance bond
7: Mending
8: Balth spirit

(Most skills can be tweaked, The base skills are 1 (Armor of earth) 2 (kinetic armor) 4 (SoJ) 5 (A means of outhealing the mobs) and 7 or 8 ( energy upkeep ) The rest can be changed to how you want to suit the build, every time ive had to change skills for a mission or whatever my build seems to change when i come back.

Ive tried retribution instead of an energy upkeep spell, the constant 1 damage is nice to look at but barely helps, i've also tried the divine favor spell that makes monk spells last 10%? longer with 0 divine favor. (pretty much and extra 2 seconds of SoJ, and that didnt really help much either, so tweak it as you wish.

My attrib points are

Earth aura/eye + superior, and an energy storage superior, and i use a galigords stone staff. (if you have a smite staff with the (20%) recharges and 20% longer enchant mods, that would probably help. (switch to that as you cast SoJ.)

Where you will be farming is here at saint jeffs shrine.

You can get here once you've reached house zu heltzer, its just a mid size walk south sticking to the west wall.

Okay, assuming you have the stats and skills i said above the run starts by you leaving though the gate into Drazach Thicket.

First things first, hit on your enchants, or 6 7 8 if you have the skills in the same order as me, now run forward a little holding ctrl, and you should see 12 dragon moss .

If not READ THE BOLD TEXT.

Hit on armor of earth and kinetic armor. Being as basic as i can be, without these on you will die. Simple, no?

Keep an eye on kinetic armor, if you let it go off you will probably die, though its possible to survive if it goes off by strafing the dragons attacks, but annoying.

Now you must agro the 12 dragon moss, shooting them with a bow works and so does running blindly into them - note cussing at them dosent, this only works in the random arenas.

They should all start attacking you now, hit on healing breeze.

You now have a dilemma, you are being attacked by 12 mobs with your life relying on enchantments, and a patrol of wardens are comming (with most probably mesmers. ;\)

There are two places you can move, one is move back here (where you came from)

Staying behind the red line/plant should keep you safe from the wardens while keeping the moss attacking you.

The second isnt really relivent unless you want to kill the ranger boss aswell, but for the sake of it, the other spot is towards the ranger boss, just outside of its aggro. I use this sometimes due to it tends to keep ALL of the mobs attacking you, as sometimes standing at the other spot i mentioned, the mobs can walk towards you and not attack -.-)

Now use shield of Judgement to start doing damage, it should take 2 Shields to kill the dragon moss, sometimes less because those loveable wardens drop a spirit that makes anything knocked down start bleeding.

Kill the dragons and take the loot

Ranger boss

mainly the reason i bring silver armor, i dont know if he drops anything good as the boss frustrates me too much to kill him on a regular basis + sometimes he is killed by an oni spawn, which is why you may get random +2 moral boosts.

The basic idea is once you have grouped the 12 dragon moss you run near the boss (away from warden dangerzone) and hit silver armor (hitting 10 damage every time you get hit, which 12 dragon moss attacking you isnt bad) and hitting shield of judgement when you need hp ( will stop everything from attacking in the KD (knockdown) period (becareful doing this, if too many dragon moss die, the boss will outheal your damage.)

And thats it i guess.

Here are some drops i have gotten from farming here.

Items. (Some random pics i found from items i auctioned on guru from this farming spot.)

Dual gold drops from the one group.

+ the boss and a sucky drop.

Thank you for reading.

~L I G H T N I N G

EDIT - Just hit my 90th gold from here, Stopped running it recently since i figure more and more people figured out this spot and the drops are drying out or somthing. Time to find another place .

I have discovered this little cool farming spot with my E/Mo quite some time ago and even almost forgot about it but now i see OOoo i wasn't the only one.

I experimented a couple hours with this and Shield of Judgment appeared to be the most efficient killing skill. My build is however quite different than OP's because i use no healing spells, only 1 superior rune, and 4 damage skills.

My attributes are:
Earth Magic: 10 + 4
Energy Storage: 10 + 1
Smiting: 11

and the skill set that proven to be most efficient for me:
1. SoJ
2. Sliver Armor
3. Armor of Earth
4. Kinetic Armor
5. Aura of Restoration << the only healing skill but its enough if you spam it and other skills
6. Balthazar's Spirit << one energy management skill is enough for spamming stuff
7. Crystal Wave // Aftershock // Earthquake << area dmg skill
8. Stone Daggers << my favorite here but another area dmg works here aswell

My favorite equipment set for it: Flame Spitter of Enchanting + a 20/20 Rockmolder 20%+10% any spell recharge + 20% enchanting just rocks

At the beginning i just go past the mosses and downhill and just sit there on my SoJ spamming extra skills for heals from aura. The main reason for those additional damage skills is just to rush in after the warden patrol goes away and wipe out all mosses asap and collect the loot. Thats because the only moments you can improve the speed in this run are after the wardens go away or at the beginning (for the beginning part i also tried using Windborne Speed instead of one dmg skill, effects were roughly the same)

I still think that a more efficient build can be made for this farm and probably the best one would be just a 55 monk (i dont have one to check it out)

I suggest putting your healing at 9, that would mean that you'd get 3 regen from mending and 7 from breeze, which would max you out at 10... any more would be a waste, unless they use degen, and I can't remember if they do or not. Just a suggestion.

i agree with coopa about that.

this build is very successful but very slow. i dont have the green smiting staff but i have the green earth one, and all enchantments last 20% longer. still, there is a very long recharge where you pretty much have to sit back and do nothing. maybe take kinetic armor out and put in one damage spell? it seems as though the drops of this area have already gotten nerfed. went there 3 times, not a single gold, no purple, and one blue.

Yeah i tried that, but the earth spells i use i spam anyway + the healing and 12 earth easily covered my regen.

And i kinda hope it hasnt been nerfed yet, though ive gotten the 70 golds i needed for my title from there.

Il try a few runs using aura of rest + more damage skills to see if i can speed it up.

The ideal weapon set would be a FFS with a 20% mod on it like Yawgmoth has (I use the same ) and a shield with -2 dmg while enchanted. You can get this shield in the wilds from virgil the collector. you need 5 ancient eyes for it. -2 does not seem much but it is a HUGE difference. with it you can solo Ember without it your toast! Now for skills I am still trying to figue a faster way but can't try it since my ele is not there =(. But it seems a 55 ele would make faster work of them. The only problem would be getting them close enough to where you can aggro them. I tried this with my warrior and got killed but was still able to draw them really far down to where I was able to aggro them and have the wardens stay away.

55 build

Healing 8
Fire 14 or Earth 14
Protection 7
Rest in energy (don't need much in there since Balthazars and Essence will refill you.)

Balthazars spirit
Essence Bond
Mending
Healing Breeze
Protective Spirit
Flame Burst - Sliver Armor
Inferno - Crystal Wave
Starburst {E} - Shockwave

Those are all PBAoE spells and you should be able to take on all of em. For the earth line which I prefer you have to play it a little smarter cause each has a 20 second recharge time so every 7 seconds hit one of the skills.

Another bit more unconventional idea would to go E/N

Life Sipon - apply to 3 foes for +9 regen for 22 seconds
Kinetic
Armor of Earth
Aura of Restoration
Ether Prodigy {E} or Well of Power Health +6 regen Energy +2 regen for 20 seconds =)
Sliver Armor
Crystal Wave
Tenais Crystal

BTW, is it possible to get the quest needed to do this farming if you've already befriended the Luxons?
