Default How Much Fun Can An Ele Be ?

I've been thinking about making an Elementalist but i dont want to go through the hassle of making another character as elite as my ranger =P lol, i love the fact that i can just make a fire burning elementalist cuz i really like putting things on fire and causing massive fire damage to things but im not sure if its really worth making cuz i got started on this warrior before i took a 2 month break and after farming for a while on my ranger i seemed to enjoy that alot more than doing what i've already done on my ranger again ....so if theres any reasons that making an ele would be usefull for let me know =) cuz frankly i dont think i can stand going through this game all over again lol even though it would prolly be a good idea to have 2 HM or even 3 HM characters

What does everyone think ?

Well, ele's are pretty good. (Im an ele primary) I'd have to say, ele's are probably the 2nd best farmers, they get into groups easily with few exceptions (like tombs, but seriously who wants to go to tombs). They have massive AoE damage, with the right build.

A couple other things that I like to do:

Terra Tanking, Oby tanking, either way it is one of the best tank builds in the game.

Glacial stone farming, one of the best farms in the game.

Nuker for FoW, UW, etc. Ele's are always wanted for FoW because of their nuking ability.

Randomly killing ice monsters... =), its a good way of getting un bored.

And the list just goes on and on.

I would have to say that you should make an ele, I made it as my first charecter, and have gone 29 months strong on it. And I don't regret it.

lol that sounds good i've only been playing for 7 months , ( 2 months of break dont count so make that 5 months ) and total game time like 300 hours alone on my ranger lol i wish i could find a way to combine Ranger/Ele ( to cause fire damage ) but for now i just use Kindle Arrows =P i heard mark of rodgort can be good/bad from a lot of people so im just gonna stick with Kindle Arrows lol

i'll have to stop farming on my ranger so much so that i can beat the game with my warrior and then get around to making an elementalist and then get around to beating the game with it and THEN trying out necros lol

I like a combination of Mark of Rodgort, Conjure Fire, Barrage, and a firey bowsting...

GOGO AOE BURNING

EDIT: Woops off topic:

On topic part of post now:

Eles are good, however I find them boring because they dont require as much active though as some other classes. For instance, warriors require better target choice, placement, and timinig (IAS usage, d-shops etc), rangers require smarts, reflexes etc (interupts, who to daze/ccripple), paragons are just funny coz of party immunity.

It depends on what you like from the game. Lots of big numbers (fire ele), less huge numbers (air), shutdown (water) or tanking (earth), or fast spikes, huge pressure, healing, etc options from other classes

I didn't have any trouble reading his post, but I do read a Lot.

Anyway, at first Eles are pretty boring to play, but once you get some of the better skills, it becomes more fun. Read this thread to get some good ideas for nuker builds. have fun and good luck.,

You made me laugh, eles do require you to be active, it just depends on what part of the game you play, I suppose burning can add quite alot of pressure.

On topic:

Eles are alot of fun to play, the playstyle varies alot depending on the attribute you choose to play. My ele was also my first character and I still love to play him. It always makes me feel warm inside seeing all those big yellow numbers flying around, or see someone walking at 10% of his max speed because of a water snare, blinding those wars who tend to spike your monks and ofcourse tank as much foes as you want and still being able to finish them off.

You also said you love to burn enemys to the ground so i really see no reason not to make a ele

Agreed. I love my ele and eles require you to be active and do require a certian amount of skill (less than other professions though.).
Also it's very versitile with 4 elements.

There are few things in the game as exhilarating as getting a good AP nuking chain rolling. For a few moments you're death incarnate with fists made of meteor showers and you can slay enemies left and right just by shouting at them until you run out of things to kill.

For me, the most fun to be had on an ele has to be in Perdition Rock with auspicious incantation, maelstrom and ward against harm on my bar. It's my favourite class, and contrary to some opinions when played WELL (not including boring nuking) actually takes more thought than when play warrior or the like, you wouldn't to waste a nice maelstrom on a mellee group for example.

Most fun I have with an ele is [skill]blinding surge[/skill] + bad people in RA.

The QQ is sooo amusing.

see this is what i don't get. everyone always talks about how good rodgorts invocation is, but i find that 25 energy happens to be a lot, and 3 casting time.
i forgot how to do the little skill things (/skill:mark of rodgort/?????) because i just hit that on somebody and spam flare. they burn and die like a little bug. or a plant that got caught on fire. or a chicken with its head chopped off. runs around in circles before dying.

but . i think that eles are fun. my only character thats made it to level 20 and beat the stupid lich. burn is fun but a secondary profession is hard i think. when i first started it i actually took the advice of guildwarsmanual and went as an ele warior and it sucked. dont be ele warrior. quote from guild wars manual, "you can set up enemies from a distance, and then come in with a hammer!" unless you are sure you can have good monks in your party a lot, be a /monk for lots of energy to heal yourself if you want.
or not.

It's 2 casting time. And you'll realize with proper emanagement (dual attune, mind blast, or glyph), 25 energy isn't that much if you're not wasting all your energy on flare when you can wand for nearly that much damage.

Flare does about 4 times as much damage....but yes, it sucks.
I like eles because of their versatility. You go anywhere in game and you can be useful. I also like ele armor and weapons. What isnt cool, is the male dance.
Eles solo extremely well, Id vote a rit for tie for second.
