Default PVE Assassin secondary

So... I've just started a roleplaying Assassin, and it's already obvious to me how many potential problems this class can experience in PvE. I'm wondering what a good secondary profession is to make a good PvE Assassin. Survivability seems to be the key problem. I was thinking of going Ritualist for the secondary, but I also see a couple really good /Necro or /Elementalist builds on this board.

Basically I just want to get input from experienced Assassin players about how to make a good PvE Assassin. Thanks!

You can make a good assassin with almost any secondary profession. /necromancer will let you have Plague Touch at your disposal to remove a condition and then get out, hopefully hindering your opponent. /Elementalist has many helpful tools that you can use to help your combos or your armor, like Shock + Falling Spider or using teleportation skills combined with Armor of Earth to offset the assassin's natural low armor. /Ritualist is nice for Brutal Weapon and other weapon spells that allow you to survive long enough to complete your assassination of your target. There's a weapon spell that blinds any attacker for a few seconds...probably just long enough to complete your combo and teleport out. They all make good choices in my opinion, but I like the elementalist because I favor speed over damage in my combos. Plague Touch might be a benefit, but you wouldn't be in combat most of the time long enough for it to make a difference.

Basically Ritualist and Elementalist both make great secondaries. Ritualist allows you to use a more unconventional combo due to increased survivability while Elementalist allows you to make your combo execute faster through use of various knockdown skills such as Shock and Gale.

It really depends most on your playstyle. Do you want to get into a fight and out instantly or do you want to get in an extra attack before you get out at the price of a slower combo? You either lose 1 attack's worth of speed or 1 attack's worth of damage... I feel that they eventually balance out though since both combos should kill the target.

Good Luck with your assassin.

like said above any secondary will work. Just play around with some. But to be honest with you i dont use my secondary at all. Or if i do its only 1 slot. Because assasins attribute points have to be spread so thin in dagger, cirtical, and shadow. that you barely have anything left to put into a whole nother class
