Default What am i doing wrong?

Hi

I was playing around with this build in UW

[build prof=A/Me ins=12 dead=3 sha=12+1+3][Deadly Paradox][Shadow Form][Channeling][Spirit of Failure][Viper's Defense][Cry of Pain][Ether Nightmare (Luxon)][Radiation Field][/build]

I pop'd an essence, and started killing - but there is a problem.

The grasping and aatxes starts to run, is it because i aggro too many at a time, or maybe because i spam Cry too much?

/Ash

Yup, the second. Especially in HM, mobs will scatter when they take too many damage packets over a given time frame.

One way to counter act this is to lower your health substantially. Let SF run out once before you aggro anything, and then swap to a vampiric if your health starts to creep up. Don't know much about your build, but if you can swing it, that will keep them from running.

there is a way to aggro melee mobs so they wont run even if you are doing massive damage, but it requires a Wall. It worked everywhere I tested it and I'm sure others use it as well. If they do run away, they will still be in a nice little pile for easy ranged AoE if needed too.

In my Experience, Grab all the Melees you can and first run in a circle to put them in a nice little pile. If you press CTRL, their names should all be vertically aligned and all be in one spot.

Once you achieved this, Get close to any (preferrably straight) wall and follow this diagram.

The long line is obviously the wall, the arrow is you HUGGING the wall AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!. The red circle is the mob of monsters. They should be hugging the wall also and in a pile that is so small, its like their are sharing the same space. This can be achieved by walking backwards while hugging the wall.

Once you have the optimum set up, you can start unleashing your damage and they shouldnt run away! All of them will stop attacking except for 3 (which is what always happens) and they will all just be there. For some reason monsters like to run back and to the left if you are facing them or something liek that. Use this aggro control and you should be able to farm any melee's that wont kill you with other means! Takes practice, have fun.

I use this technique all the time. I usually bring [skill] Death's Charge [/skill] and target the farthest enemy form me and try to get to the end of the line but still right at the wall.

Otherwise, if you are using sliver armour to kill you can wand the person it is targeting and have them stay in the aggro circle.

forgot to mention Vipers defense can really screw with the aggro control I mentioned.... Just stick with radiation field wit ether phantom and cry of pain, that should be plenty

Off Topic: Is the GWBBCode in the OP's post working for you guys...it's not for me.

On Topic: Lower your health or kill much more quickly, before they scatter. Also, I don't think that groups of three or less scatter in HM.

Nope it doesn't work :/

I just came up from uw again, and i think i got a conclusion... they will scatter when u aggro more than 3 at a time...

But if ur only going to kill 3 at a time its gonna take alot of time before the rest of ur party can run to their quests...

any ideas?

I second ajc2123, that wall block technique is something I use all the time, and pretty much every person in my alliance who has a clue about perma in UW knows that trick too. If it isnt working for you, you are simply not doing it right.

Just run to the top of the stairs in front of the Ghost that gives you the reward and they'll go away. Mind not to make them attack the Ghost.
