Default R/N or N/R?

Is there gonna be a difference of which is my primary. If so please tell me, also I want to combine Beast Mastery and Death Magic. So I can have a pet and undead wall while I shoot from afar. So what I wanna know the difference of them in primary and secondary and also what the build should be like. Thx.

R/N: more energy effective attack skills. Limited energy pool which will quickly run out.
N/R: higher energy pool and energy regains. Less effective with attacks, but more sustainable with keeping up minions.

So I would most certainly go N/R. If you want a pet too, maybe something like
12+3+1 Death Magic, 10+1 Soul Reaping, 8 Beast Mastery

Beast Mastery Skills could be Comfort Animal, Edge of Extinction, rest in Death Magic and Soul Reaping skills.

Thx last time I played was on a trial account back when people actually played and I had a El/Ne. But now I am trying to make a solo character and in my mind having minions and a pet wall will really support me while I'm playing solo.

Edge of Extinction might have not been the best suggestion though, considering dead minions will harm your other minions. It might work out for a Minion Bomber if you're quick with Death Nova before your minions die, and replenish afterwards with Aura of the Lich.

IMO, it really depends on what kin d of build you are looking towards (attack heavy or spell-based). However, since you mention "solo", you may want to consider being Rt primary or secondary as Sig of Spirits is very well proven. If you meant solo as in solo playing with all heroes, then that is a different story.

I have a n/r as well as a r/n...I enjoy playing both, however, neither is a main character of mine. I like the necro primary for the extra energy when things die, I like the ranger for the extra armor, but minions with out the energy boast is harder to keep up (my r/n uses curses for the extra conditions). So I would pick the necro instead of the ranger (and keep troll ungent for the healing).

I like joining daily Zaishen quest PUGs as a R/A with daggers. Tends to surprise the monks since they're normally use to ranged weak builds ranger players normally run.

Pet and minions on the same build either means lack of energy or having your bar recharge when your pet dies. It could also mean poor attribute splitting and lack of synergy.

Cuilan is right I Think, I often Pair my Ranger Prime with an AoL MM when farming; its just the 2 toons; but buffing that wave of minions with Ebonstandard is right powerful; Yes Eva steals half my drops, but we kill so much faster and are much more efficent than I could be R solo you might try that opion.
