this is really awesome, thank you very much for you generosity!
Wowzers, my first character was made ON release day, i was in the betas for a short time right before release too. and the first thing to be made HAD to be a ranger, i mean she has a bow....nuff sed. then im lvl 2 and leaving pre, my friend is all wtfz on me cuz he is lvl 7 and wants to finish all the quests. but as soon as i could i was leaving pre, a r/mo named Lil Is Famished, and all this time later, she is still kickin like the old bitty she has come to be. she has been through every campaign on normal and hard mode, explored the entire world to 100% has become a savior to 2 warring factions, has EVERY single skill stored in her old woman's mind, had a SINISTER sweet tooth that caused her to go bankrupt, is affiliated with many other factions to the highest degree, and has seen her fare share of treasure chests. She may wear her god walking amongst mere mortals with her head held high, but she has also become known as the intrepid CAT LADY where as ALL of my minipets collected over the years have gone to her, and some she couldnt help but rescue from the pound. with over 3 thousand hours played on her she is indeed my first and favorite character, but her younger sister (oddly named) Lil Is Parched is gaining fame with her friends and infamy with her enemies, previously a mo/me (after getting her tiger) she raises hell (or stops it?) in the alliance battles as a mo/a.

i'll most likely never stop playing this game, i had a long break once and i think it was exactly what i needed, the drive to max out titles and get the best gear possible for my characters keeps me playing, not to mention the community is quite comforting.

Again, thank you for your give away and good luck to every one, happy holidays!

Default My brief story

Well, my first character and, proudly, still the main character, is known as The Brazilian, a fearless warrior. I gave him that name because I wanted a name wich could be recognizable for all players, including people from my country, since I didn't know any brazilian GW players. The name is also a reference for Maximus' nickname in Gladiator movie (portrayed by Russell Crowe), and I couldn't be happier with that name.

De facto the bravest of the brave, The Brazilian served Ascalon with distinction, acomplishing all the quests avaiable and reached level 16 (the whole death leveling stuff was still unknown, probably wouldn't do it even if it was acknowledged). Before the Searing, Ascalon was a very nice place to live and admire. Countless minutes were spent just looking to the overwhelming scenario.

After witnessed the Searing and realizing there was no turning back from that point, he started his campaign in a very perfeccionist way, fulfilling the Flameseeker Prophecies, and entitling him as the Protector of Tyria, somehow a reason to be proud.

The evolution is undeniable. From a legitimate W/Mo "Wammo", using Mending and Vigorous Spirit (it actually makes sense for a beginner), to an awesome "Godmode" skillbar, this brave warrior needs a sword that won't break with the constant usage of Dragon Slash, a constant problem for him, wich would be solved with the Eternal Blade. But, unfortunately, though braveness is a constant characteristic, extreme wealthiness is not.

After spending way more than one year without knowing other places, finally Eye of the North was avaiable. And there he was entitled Master of the North, after completing every single Dungeon in both NM and HM... no easy task. More recently, both Cantha and Elona were saved. Balthazar must be proud. As a true son of Balthazar, he makes a very adequate wielder of the Eternal Blade. It is bound to be wield by a true son of Balthazar, it has to fulfill its destiny.

I was personally about to leave Guild Wars since I had to travel to another city, but two weeks ago I received a mail wich made me very happy, since I won't have to leave my city (hometown) nor Guild Wars anymore. So, I started buying stuff from GW In-Game store like crazy.

I wish everyone good luck, a merry christmas, and a happy new year (just like that jingle )

Take a look on him, check out how you can see his urge for that sword by looking to his eyes. He's a little proud, so he tries to hide it, but it's undeniable.

Spider Osiris.. My first character and still my main! I remember watching a friend play guild wars for hours on end until i though i must have this game! The first proffesion for me was naturally going to be a necromancer. I would spend ages clearing out the catacombs in pre-searing loving everything about the game and the proffesion. After a couple of weeks i found the mission to go to post-searing and was dumn-founded, the game was a lot bigger than i thought. So my character then went on to fulfill the flameseeker prophecies, save cantha from shiro, prevent nightfall in elona and destroy the great destroyer...
Another little story.. in the times of minataur farming i remember 55'ing elona reach with Spider Osiris and after getting a coupla plat. travelling to cavalon buying luxon keys and raising my treasure hunter title key-by-key.. i could do that for hours..
Though Spider Osiris' luck with loot has sadly been dire for the last 3 years, and it would be nice for him to have something to be proud to wield before his 3rd birthday in January
Many thanks (:
Good luck everyone!
And just for laughs some nostalgic Screens:

My build up to level 20 xD:

And when he finally though he'd had some luck, it wasn't inscribable -_-:

My first Guild Wars character... a male Prophecies Elementalist. I believe I am one of the few people that have not kept their original character, I choice which I somewhat regret. Also, my first character was not as much as a memorable time, as with most people, but more of a sob story, and in some peoples' opinions, a comedy.

First, I suppose I should give you a little background story about when I started playing Guild Wars. I had heard about the game from my friend, and he let me try out the game on his account. I instantly fell in love with the game. Later, I told my mom that I reeaaallly wanted to get this game, but she said no, because apparently I "play too much video games". A few days later, she left town for a few days to go on a cruise. Naturally, I thought of this as an excellent opportunity. I rode my bike 3 miles to the nearest Best Buy, and bought the game. When I got home, I installed the game, I spent 1 1/2 hours staring at the title screen, mesmerized by the fascinating music (I am a HUGE Jeremy Soule fan). What happened when my mom found out that I had bought the game while she was away... well, that's not important.

Anyways, back to my character. I spent a while trying to decide between an Elementalist and a Ranger, and eventually decided to try and Elementalist. I made my character, got a feel for the game, then... I realized something. I looked at the map, and thought "Holy applesauce, this map is tiny!" (I later realized that Pre-Searing is only a small fraction of the game). Eventaully, I decided to take a risk, and do the quest in which Sir Tydus said that there was "no turning back" (Ascalon Academy mission). After I finished the quest, to my dismay, I found myself in a whole new world. I was horrified that I had lost this the amazing and beautiful world that I now know is Pre-Searing. I thought that I had messed up in the quest I had just done, so I thought I would look around to see if there was a way to re-do the quest. While I was training, I decided that I needed some new armor. I found an armorer in Ascalon City, and bought some armor. After I had bought the armor (which at the time, seemed like it cost a TON of money), I realized there was another armorer in Ascalon City that sold more protective armor. I instanly sold my armor, not realizing that it would not give me enough money to buy new armor, and leaving me half-naked. I then decided it was time to delete my Elemtantalist, thinking he was bad luck, and made a Ranger, which I fell in love with, and still have to this day. Nowadays, many people consider my Ranger to be my true first character, but this is the legitimate (and tragic) story of my real first character.

Anyways, my first Guild Wars character left the Guild Wars world just like I, myself, was brought into this world - confused, naked, and crying. Multiple times since then, I have tried making an Elementalist, but have never enjoyed it as much as I have that fateful day.

Now, the story of my first ever PvP Character.
After I had made my first PvE character, deleted him, and made a new one, I decided to try making a PvP character. I made a Warrior/Necromancer. I used a build with hammer attacks and minion skills, but no defense. I was bragging to my friend about how awesome it was that I could "kill people with my hammer, then make a minion out of them!" Later, I realized three things.
1. It was my teamates that were doing the killing.
2. You do much more damage with weapons if you actually put attributes into that mastery.
3. Warriors don't have have enough energy to cast Animate Bone Fiend.

Well, sorry for the extremely lengthy reply, but I thought some people would enjoy reading about my misadventures in the Land of Guild Wars.

Good luck to all, and Happy Winterday / Christmas / Kwanzaa / Hannukah / Other Religion Holidays / Non-Religious Holidays.

My first Guild Wars character was a male prophecies warrior, but I deleted it after getting to level 3 because I "wanted to freeze things and use ice magic" with an elementalist.

About 42 months ago (wow) my friend had gotten me to buy this game, and quickly i caught on and was addicted. Just as many others... my first character was a warrior, Rahl The Outlaw. Quickly i surpassed my friend and started to play along the story with him and his brother. It was a great journey, and now my warrior has thousands and thousands of hours played and is still one of my favourite characters. You are a very kind person to think of others in this virtual world as well as your real life, and I thank you no matter what.

Happy Holidays.

My very first character....hrm.

Way back in the good old days of brand new players, easily-made pugs, and when 100g was a decent amount of money to have I made my Warrior by the name of Stephen Hammerfist. Contrary to his name, he wasn't much of a hammer user...he preferred the sword or the axe. After days of mending wammo-ing through prophecies he finally made his way to Droknar's Forge where he got his first set of max armor, the obligatory Platemail pig-armor. Soon after that he discovered farming of the white mantle knights in Riverside province and the tengu outside Sanctum Cay, where he amassed many runes and materials. Alas, as I got more involved in my elementalist, I got bored of my warrior and decided to reroll him to necromancer...when he still had two stacks of steel, a perfect r10 magmas shield that dropped for him in Perdition Rock, and various other valuables in his inventory. All went to waste. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Merry Wintersday!

Hey,

Despite of all the finest stories about first characters, I have a good reason why you should give it to me. It's because in the past I lost an Eternal Blade req9 .

The screenshot doesn't work anymore, but if you would read the comments I'd be pleased!

My first character is over 3 years old, and has been my main ever since i started playing. I remember usign my ranger Mat Cauthorn through pre, moving through Tyria, and then on through the following expansions. There are two things that I've always remembered about him when I think of his beginning, The first is that his first dye drop was black. Not know it;s value at the time, I put it on the mask of his starter armor. This was way back in 2005. Oops. Another story of his early days was how he entered Kryta. A friend and I decided one day to go exploring through the Iron Horse Mine, and ended up fighting all the way around to Lion Arch. We didn't even know the Frost Gate and Borlis Pass Missions were there until I went back and started running around there again, well after we were level 20 and had completed the Abbadon's Mouth mission.

My first char is a ranger (Undead Mraksman). I keep him becuase of his titles and sedimental vaule. Also he's the only Char most of my friend will recignize. Sadly i dont play much on him anymore as I split the time between my monk and my warrior.

I Actually think this is kind of Cool! Well lets see i started playing about 38 months ago. My first Characters name was Dr Hammer(Corny Right) Lol. Well lets see. I started off bein a w/me and i was amazed with degen of conjure phantasm and i just killed things in preseering for about 2 weeks til i was lvl 8 or so. I have no idea what quests were until someday i saw someone saying doing this quest and i whispered him and i was like wtf is a quest? After learning this I did a couple of quests and found my self lost in the catacombs. Literally i had no idea about the mini map and got completely lost in the catacombs trying to do that quest for the long swords. And before i left i actually decided to ochange my secondary to monk because i kept dieing and i wanted some healing spells. Mending seemed to be Pretty pro. After finally learning how to seer my friend in Personal life decided to help me out and he ran me from ascalon to droks and bought me some armor. I THOUGHT IT WAS SO COOL! i spent several days just killing things and sitting in the areanas in ascalon at lvl 8 and taking 0 dmg because of my armor. After that i thought wow what is the point of this game and to my amazement someone told me about the mission and the story lines and i was instantly hooked. Not nkowing much about the mission i failed many times. For example in the first mission i decided that taking on the 30 charr that chase you might be cool but yeah that didnt work out well. Running some mending build with no healing breeze i did the whole campaign mission and mission until i got to about sanctum. With no sleep and about 48 hours of peer gaming lol. I got stuck there beacuse i couldnt do it with henchies. I was almost lvl 19. STuck there i saw someone running the misison and i was like he probably cant but whatever but too my amazement he made it. I just kept following the quests and finally found myself lvl 20 ascended and bored about. One day i got bored and decided to start killing things outside of droks. After i killed a couple i went holy shit they actually drop max things. So for a few months ther ei spent days just killing things and picking up the max dmg weapons and selling them to new players in ascalon for around 200-1000g each. I made aboutt 17k and i thought i was the richest player in the world. Haha Thats the end

Pm on guru if i have a chance.
Happy holidays.
people like you make guild wars fun. Keep it up!

The name Sir Primus is composed from a chivalric title, sir, which have passed to him from his father, a son to one of the lower branches of the royal family in Ascalon.
His father's wife was the last sibling from a lord's dynasty in Kryta. When the rest of her family died in a series of mysterious deaths after speaking against the white mantles, she was taken by Sir Primus's father.
They couldn’t be together before because of political reasons. Her house was known for a legend about a son of a primeval king who came to Tyria long ago, and founded this house, which bring us to the second part of the name is the nickname Primus for the primeval prince.
Before the pre-searing, Primus tried to get into Ascalon guard. His father died during the searing, and most of his estate was destroyed.
Sir Primus went to fight the charrs to revenge his father's death, and two years and ascension later he found himself killing the lich lord and freeing Tyria from the Mursaat.
During a short period after the lich's demise, he banished the remains of the titans, fought the stone-summits, defeated the darkness that infested the tomb of the primeval kings, killed many soldiers of the Menzies in the service of Balthazar, aided Grenth to regain control in some parts in the underworld, and married a young ranger known as Leona of Denravi, a famous champion of the shining blade, who accompanied him during his journey to fight off the white mantles and later on the lich lord.
Afterwards he traveled to Cantha with his wife and Mhenlo, and killed Shiro in the following year. During the next two years, he made a huge fortune from the treasures of the dangerous depths of the jade sea, and rebuilt his father's estate in south Ascalon.
After this short two-year break, he was called again to save the world, this time to elona, the land of the golden sun. A long story short, he killed Abaddon, and gained the rank of a spearmarshal in the Sunspears order.
He was called shortly after to defend Kormir's rule from the arch-demon Mallyx. Co-operating with the agency of whispers and the Forgottens, he recruited heroes from all of Tyria to crusade into the depths of agony and take out Mallyx and his minions.

My first character, oh boy. Long time ago. I, as happy as a child who gets a dollar, ran to the game store to get myself Guild Wars. I installed, made an account and looked at everything. I was amazed. Of all the 6 professions, the warrior seemed to want me. I made a warrior, female, and thought of a cathing, powerful name. As new as I was, I thought a name with both "Death" and "Axe" was really powerful. Then my character was born; Deathaxe Raizer.

As soon as I logged on my warrior, I was happy. I saw people dancing in pre searing and it didn't take long until I joined them. It was fun, alot of people were offering me a guild and the first invite I recieved I accepted. The guild was welcoming, it felt good. I didn't want to go outside of Ascalon, scared I might die and didn't find the game fun anymore. Then someone in my guild asked me if I was up for some fun questing, an offer I couldn't resist because he was a nice guy. This was where my journey started

As soon as I started to learn things about the game, I grew my character to level 20. I played through the whole campaign of Prophecies, did every quest and in the end I managed to kill the evil Lich.

After this I went on in the new campaign, Factions. I was happy since it was something completely new. I figured out what was causing the plague and how to destroy tghe source. I did all quests again and in the end I even defeated Shiro with a Grenth's Balance build. I was amazed, I got a present after completing Factions! I, of course, took the Shiro's Sword, and it felt amazing. I was running Mending, as a "cure" for the vampiric effect on my sword. The sword made me feel good, it showed my strength. I bested Shiro, I could do everything.

Nightfall came out. I bought this campaign as well and again, I was amazed. The complete difference, the other skills, everything possible. I started to play, this time I didn't do all quests, I just didn't want to. I did the missions and it was fun. I got to know more of the Guild Wars Gods, I got to know about Abbadon, the God of Secrets. In the end I even defeated it. Again, I got a present. This time I just sold my Book Of Secrets because I know I wouldn't use the weapon as I ditched my Shiro's Sword already too.

about 3 and a half years ago my brother dragged me to best buy to see this game that i had never heard of. I had recently stopped playing runescape when he showed me this game guild wars. I only had $50 at the time (i was 12) so buying guild wars would be a major purchase for me. So i made him take me home and i watched all the guild wars trailers a 100 times before finally deciding to buy it. When i was creating my first character i decided on a warrior almost instantaneously, i made him as tall as possible (basically the opposite of me) but when i got to naming him i had a bit of trouble. I must have tried 5 times but all of the names i thought of had already been taken. just as i was getting frustrated my dog scratched on the door to go out, and a name came to me instantly, Beagle Warrior. my brother mocked me but i really didnt care. once i had a choice of secondary professions i automatically choose ranger so i could have a nice wolf pet. I got out of presearing as soon as possible so i could get farther then my brothers character. i was still a very low level so i had a lot of trouble in the early missions and quests so i did every side quest to try and level up. I never really focused on making money, so i got whatever decent weapon i could find, usually a hammer. As i progressed my build got better and i got much farther then my brother but he was still much richer than i was. Once i finished prophecies i did Fow and created a couple more characters until factions came out. I beat factions with beagle warrior and then i stopped playing guildwars for a little under a year. Just recently i bought nightfall and started playing again. I have not completed it yet and am only up to the early vabbi missions. I have recently been looking for a nice sword for my warrior but have not been able to afford any of the ones i like except the Ids. The other ones i have been looking for are an Oni Blade, glacial blade( which i cant get cause i didnt get eotn prerelease bonus pack), crystalline sword, eternal blade and an obsidian edge all of which are way out of my price range so winning this contest would be very helpful for me.
In the end buying guildwars was one of the best purchases i have ever made and has brought me countless hours of fun.

Thank you for reading my story and congratulations to whoever wins this generous giveaway

Hope you all have a merry Christmas (and a happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate)

My first and favorite character was my ranger, Bodvar Razerbeak. After all my friends finally talked me into getting GW about 5 months after it came out I went to install it and realised my computer was far too outdated to run it. After a week of running around and getting parts to upgrade it and finally install it I sat at the character creation screen and instantly chose a ranger class. I literally sat tehre for an hour thinking of a name, and after much debate loaded up an old copy of Heroes of Might and Magic V(I used to watch my dad play this game for hours on end when I was little, fascinated with all the crazy dragons and creatures running around) I hit random name on the character creation screen and Bodvar came up, I thought it was cool, then chose Razorbeak as the last name since it sounded tough and my last name is Hawkins, so I was keeping with the bird thing. About 30 seconds after I loaded into Ascalon I realized I had put an e instead of an o, but was so eager for adventure I let it go, later adopting the typo as my gamer tag in everything else. My ranger is my pride and joy, I dote on him and keep him looking sweet in his Elite Canthan armor and slick Tormented bow, which my best friend gave me as a birthday present before he moved away. Despite all the other characters I have I prefer to use my ranger for anything and everything with my guildies, even if it would be easier on another class. Over the last 3 1/2 years I've played through nearly everything in all of GW with good ol' Bodvar, but I continue to use him for all his nostalgic awesomeness and to remember all the crazy adventures I've been through with him.

My first character was Sparky The Dog(Still my main today)...
First made in January 11th, the first day I had Guild wars. I really was 100% noob, didn't know how to do anything. I joined a guild when I was in Ascalon City, and received no help. That's when I first learned it's hard to find a good guild that will be warm and welcoming. I ended up joining another guild after going through frost gate, etc. and met 3 good friends that I still talk to today in game. Anyways, I doubt you want to hear my whole story, but yes, my first char was a ranger, male!

Needless to say I went on to keep playing for over 2500 hours on one character, starting a guild, dis-owning that guild, joining an HA guild, then to a PvE guild of a friend's. Became Co-leader of 60 members and has happily been in that guild for more than 6 months.

That's all.

Happy Wintersday!
