Default Hi

Hey, i first got into Guild Wars because of GW2. But i never got myself a copy of GW1 because i have no friends playing and i figured GW2 would probably be out soon anyway. But i finally gave in and bought GW1 to work on the HoM. Im pretty new, ive only been playing for a couple weeks and ive gone through Factions and im playing EotN at the moment. The fact that im new plus having no friends has made adjusting to the game, somewhat difficult = /

I was on the forums trying to get familiar with the prices of items when i came across this thread. So i decided id give it a go.

im not sure how much I'll need, probably about 20-30e ?

my IGN is Brian Shray

thanks

Hello,

I recently graduated this Spring with a degree in Biology. I stopped playing Guild Wars just before college to focus on my studies and have recently returned now that I have some free time to spare. I'm working on getting a 30/30 HoM in preparation for GW2, however it has been somewhat tedious and difficult to obtain ectos as I no longer have friends to help assist me in my goal. I would appreciate it greatly if you could spare 15ectos to assist me in reaching the milestone, even though I would still have a ways to go before getting there (limiting myself to 3e/day to prevent tedium). Thanks for your time and consideration.

Hi there, my name is John. I've decided to come back to play Guild Wars. It has been 4 years since I have not played this game. Basically i quit d3 and Lol to play this because it brings back good nostalgic feeling and i want to be able to start fresh and hopefully unlock stuff for my GW 2 account soon. All i need is 15e so that i could get items for my character because the current items that i have now, are really outdated and old. And it is very hard to start playing when your flat out broke because when i left this game 4 years ago, i gave all my money away. I mostly want to get armor and weapons. I Also bought Guild Wars Trilogy yesterday and added it to my account. I plan on playing this game for a long time with GW 2 as well. Tyvm

1) Specify what it is you want the money for
2) Specify how much money you want
3) Any additional information you want to relay

Hey there,
I'm tempting fate here and asking for money or materials to complete my Valor (weapons) monument in my HoM. I was thinking finishing off the collection of Destroyer weapons would be cheaper, but as I've done the math, I need so much more money to complete it. Granted, I have a level 37 HoM, so I may not 'need' the money as much as somebody else, but I did want to try and ask for it. I'm ok with being denied this request.

I broke it down as so:
I need 7 destroyer weapons so materials break down like so (based on current trader prices) -
385k - Diamonds (7 sets of 10)
17.5k - Onyx (7 sets of 10)
137.5k - Granite (7 sets of 250)
35k - Iron Ingots (7 sets of 100)
35k - Cost of weapons (7 sets of 5k)

Totaling - 610,000 p/g (610k) - or ~80e (?) according to current trader cost

Given the end cost, this is a lot for someone to ask for, but anything helps.

My name in-game is Narsilik Khilsigre and I thank you for your time.

If you are still doing this, I will give it a shot.

What do I want the money for? Elite Luxon armor for my Elementalist.

How Much? 60k. I have finally got enough to buy the materials, but still need the money to buy the armor.

Why? Well I played for quite a while a few years ago and had multiple level 20 characters with elite armor and some awesome weapons. When I broke up with my boyfriend at the time, who is the one who introduced me to GW, I stopped playing. That was three years ago. I recently decided to get back into it and logged onto my account to find that my ex had hacked my account and deleted all my characters and emptied out my bank account. He left me with a level 6 ranger named "Poofius Maximus". A joke I guess him saying "All gone", as in screw you I deleted everything. I have started rebuilding, however it will take me quite some time to get to where I was before. My first goal is to get my armor for my Ele. So, if you would consider me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I'm probaly way too late for this but it would be awsome if you still have some ecto's left so i can finish my HoM, 50 E would probaly be plenty. If your all out then I guess i have to keep on farming.

The reason I could some money is so I can get my 30/50 in HoM. Any amount would be very helpful. This would help me out greatly as I work full time and when I am home I spend alot of time with my wife and kid, so I cannot grind things like I used to be able to. Any help to cut some time down on farming/grinding mats etc. would greatly help me out to be ready for when GW2 comes out.

I think this is great that you are helping people out!!

Hello Luke! First and foremost I would like to say you are obviously a very generous & giving person to simply just donate & help people by giving out 1000 ectos, so for that, I am grateful and that there are still very generous people out there, so thank you! I'm going to be honest really. Guild Wars to me, was just a game that I would play so I could work my way towards 30/50 or even 50/50 HoM but the more I play this game, the more I realize how much of an amazing game I've been missing out on. It really is a gem of a game and it's an extremely unique one. I originally just wanted to get 30/50 and just quit but now this game has become a hobby of mine, there are so many things I haven't yet experienced in this game and I'm still quite a new player myself. I was never much of a grinding person to start with so I was always limited with the amount of money I had. I have received a ton of help in my adventures on Guild Wars and I believe I'm at the final stretch of my goal for the Hall of Monuments. But the thing is, even if I'm done the Hall of Monuments, I will continue to play this game just because it is an extremely enjoyable game and I have not experienced most of it yet. Now you may be thinking, oh, why would I need money to experience the game? I could just join a guild and ask them to help me and show me the ropes which I have done before, and met a lot of great people by doing so. But a lot of people are too caught up in their quest to gain as much money as possible, and while I do not dislike those people, I think that hoarding money is quite pointless and if those people were a bit more generous, I wouldn't probably be here asking for ectos. But the point is the whole reason I started this game was for the HoM items in GW2 because I like to play dress-up. I'm a sucker for armor, cool looking items, and looking unique, but there's also the fact that I want to be reminded of Guild Wars when I'm kicking butt on Guild Wars 2 AND look cool doing it, both are provided with such things from the HoM. I have been given a lot of things already on this game but yet again I am not where I want to be and I'm not much of a grinding person so I'd rather play this game to beat the missions, quests, and also a bit of PvP. That being said, since I don't farm my money has been plummeting and I am simply going to ask you for 13 to 20 ectos just to fill my insatiable addiction to the prestige armor in this game, which may sound silly but if I could, I would collect all of them. The other benefit would be that I could also dedicate the armor towards my HoM as well, because I am at the final stretch and trying to achieve 40/50.

I tend to talk a lot so sorry for the long story & request. I wish you the best of luck in your writing career and hey, maybe if I one day see your book on the shelves, I'll say "hey, this guy used to play Guild Wars!" haha.

Thank you for your time and I wish you the best of luck in the future!

Default Wow, just a great way to help out the community!

Hi Luke,
I just finished my degree in computer programming, and decided it would be great to try and get 50/50 in my HoM, I currently have 37/50(after I finish my remaining vanquishes) but still need help working on the weapons (12 left) and armour (3 left one of which is the ugly obsidian set...). I started playing GW when it first came out, but when I left for school, I gave away all my stuff to guildies, as I didn't think they (ANET) would do something like this. Any help would be appreciated. I know you didn't want to make calculations on your own, so I'll throw out a number of 40e! but anything at all will be much appreciated.

My post may come as cliche' and I hate to be viewed as following other people's footsteps.

I took a four to five year hiatus from the game and just recently tried to log on. Under the presumption that my credentials would be the same, I entered my data, pushed log in and to my astonishment, the account had been compromised but some other 'needing' (I say needing because I generally do believe in the good of all people, even those who have the worst intentions by taking some other unknowing party's account while they were away from the game) party/person. Thus, all my armor minus one set has been wiped and I am starting from scratch to even get a stones throw ahead in Guild Wars 2 with any kind of HoM contributions. I don't want to throw out a number of ectos or payment I want. Whatever you deem fitting, from 100g to 1 ecto..anything would be greatly appreciated given the current state of events.

Thanks for the consideration/help,

Hello everyone.

The time has come to close this thread but I feel compelled to part with some words - it's what I do. I do not expect anybody to go out of their way to read this - it's merely a space for me to vent some sort of conclusion out of this event. My ecto pool has dried up however I will remain in game for maybe another week whilst I track down the individual getting the q8 shield and hand out the final 50e to those deserving. Once this is done I am gone, I will uninstall and this will conclude my 6 year Guild Wars experience.

A lot of people seem to think it necessary to make a distinction between real and virtual/gaming life, and often qualify how this game is important to them or a part of their life despite it being "only a game". Now, whilst I haven't had time for games in the past 3 years, I disagree with this and I will explain why, if to only sooth the conscience of some wayward gamer. The money, the grinding and the questing omnipresent in almost every game in the rpg genre mimicks that of life. Money in game and both outside have no innate value. Its a tool that is the currency of exchange. Grinding and questing is the means of acquiring such currency, whether that's farming underworld and hoping for an ecto to drop, or standing under a coconut tree waiting for a coconut to drop (and hopefully it doesn't hit and kill you (that happens)), it's all much of a muchness. Thus I don't think one should needlessly deride effort placed into gaming as worthless, as quite frankly the entire real world is built off of worthlessness - we just choose to place worth in arbitrary signs that point to some endgame, some sort of fulfilment or life conclusion.

Thus, to hint at what it was I sought to achieve (because I'm not entirely sure myself), this was generally an exercise in communication. I made a point of talking to each and every individual that was granted a portion of my wealth. Ideas, thought and expression and terribly important to me. The idea of ideas is the foremost - and to share these with people, gestate and evolve them and let them swash through mindful tides and cultivate into further ideas is a wonderful thing. None of this is so much hinging upon the ideas themselves, but rather the capacity to think of nonreals and theoreticals and share with others these fantasies. It's all remarkable to think on - to ponder and thus express ones feeling. The communication that entangled this 'event' together is sowing and reaping of my wealth and that process is eternally more useful and enjoyable than anything materialistic I could have acquired. I'm not one for money - I happen to just make it easily in this game. A second, but very much related, reason for my donative spirit was as follows: through my freeing up of peoples time grinding solo, they may join parties or take time to talk to and thus find new acquaintances, maybe even a new friend. Whether online or not friends are important, I rank them above family personally. The possibility of me forging even a single friendship from my 1000e would make the endeavour worthwhile.

I shall end shortly. I won't talk much on my own work, life, shortcomings because that's needlessly tedious - and I know the majority will, quite rightly, not care.

I want to thank everyone that viewed and posted in this thread. As I said to each of you, I gained just as much from this as ye. I am not an innately nice person, far from it, but more folk need to realise that there is no use clutching onto gold in the grave (if anything it attracts dragons). Why game away time striving to hold purchasing power upon one's quitting? This holds for that 'real' world too, whatever that really is. I have already asked as much as I should from you and so I will say goodbye now.

If anybody ever wishes to talk feel free to pm me on here, or talk to my character in the final frames of his wee pixilated life (Luke Connolly).

Thank you,

Luke
