For more up-to-date information on mini pets, use the link bellow:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Mini_Pets
EDIT: Well since my Mini Necrid image has already been taken and posted above, I’ll contribute some collected information about mini “pets”
As of April 9, 2007
Where and how do I get a mini pet?
There are about 8 ways to get a mini pet:- Birthday Gift
The traditional way to get a mini pet is as a birthday gift from ANet when your character becomes 12 months old. Your account age is not your character age.
You will find the gift in your inventory and then you double click it to reveal a random pet.
The random birthday gift pet can only be one of the following:
For one year old characters:- Miniature Fungal Wallow
- Miniature Hydra
- Miniature Jade Armor
- Miniature Jungle Troll
image updated in the April 5, 2007 update
- Miniature Necrid Horseman
- Miniature Siege Turtle
- Miniature Temple Guardian
- Miniature Whiptail Devourer
- Miniature Burning Titan
- Miniature Charr Shaman
- Miniature Kirin
- Miniature Prince Rurik
- Miniature Shiro
- Miniature Bone Dragon
It is also expected that you will get a gift for your character when they become 2 years old, 3 years old, etc. For now, it’s not known if it will be simply a new set of mini pets or something different, as suggested by this thread:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10124585
- Collectors Editions
By purchasing a collectors edition for Factions or Nightfall, you can get a guaranteed mini pet.
For the Factions Collectors Edition you will get:
Miniature Kuunavang
For the Nightfall Collectors Edition you will get:
Miniature Varesh (now with a scythe)
After accessing the Collectors Edition account (either merged or not, it doesn’t matter), you should see a little message to type /special to receive your gift. Make sure your inventory has at least 1 free slot open for it!
I don’t know what happens if your inventory is full, but you only get one gift for each Collectors Edition purchased.
- Trade
Mini pets are not customized or forced to be used only on your account in any way. You may trade them through the trade window just like with any other regular item.
Some people are against this ability though, since they feel that mini pets should be a sign of being a veteran player. ANet so far seems to be ok with it being traded.
- Hall of Heroes
Currently you can get a mini pet from the Halls of Heroes chest that appears once you’ve won. The odds of getting one have been found so far to be very, very low.
The mini pets found from the chest:
Miniature Ghostly Hero
- Elite Missions
Currently the only Elite Mission that gives you a chance to get a mini pet is the Nightfall elite mission Domain of Anguish.
The mini pet you are able to obtain:
Miniature Mallyx
image provided by Enko
To obtain the Miniature Mallyx, you need to collect Coffer of Whispers and pray that your random gift is the miniature mallyx.
- PvP event
- In the Japanese and Taiwan regions there were separate contest events/promos that allowed the winners the ability to receive the following mini pets:
- Miniature Kanaxai
image provided by Enko
- Miniature Panda
image provided by Enko
- Miniature Island Guardian
image provided by Enko
- Canthan New Years Festival 2007 Rollerbeetle Racing
The top 100 players with the fastest times recieved:
Miniature Greased Lightning (a mini rollerbeetle ^_^)
image provided by Enko
- PvE event
- Canthan New Years Festival 2007
This event allowed everyone who participated (except the unlucky) to get a mini pet.
The mini pet offered through this event was a representation of the 2007 zodiac animal on the Chinese calendar:
Miniature Pig
Lunar Fortunes were also offered during the event and can allow a person to get a miniature pig as well.
- Promos
- Magazine
- 2006 November PC Gamer issue
Offered the Miniature Grey Giant
After adding the magazine code and typing /special you will receive in your inventory a Broken Toy which will be used in a little quest to gain your Miniature Grey Giant
- 2007 May PC Gamer issue
Offered the Miniature Asura
Other various European magazines also offered the same mini pets
- Japanese netcafe, Taiwan Nightfall preview, and Taiwan Nightfall title contest
The winners received:- Miniature Longhair Yeti

- Miniature Naga Raincaller

- Miniature Oni

Other Various Mini Pet Questions:
How do I see my character’s age?
In the chat window, type /age
You will then see a message in green saying something like:
You have played this character for XX hours XX minutes over the past XX months.
Across all characters, you have played for XX hours XX minutes over the past XX months.
The part in bold is your character’s age. The second sentence is your account age.
Do I only get one birthday gift?
Your character receives only 1 gift when they turn 12 months old.
ALL of your characters are able to receive a gift though.
So it is possible to get more than 1 gift on your account.
Can I have more than one mini pet on my character?
Yes! But only one mini pet may be used at a time.
What does a mini pet do?
A mini pet does nothing but follow your character around while looking cute. That’s it.
Mini pet’s do not take damage and cannot be killed (or at least they aren’t intended to be able to).
Some mini pets do make sounds and I have read that mini pets can get knocked down by certain skills.
They also randomly go into their battle stance.
How do you use it? Is it a one time thing?
Mini pets are only allowed in Explorable Areas, Missions, and now Towns and Outposts. You can not use them in PvP.
While in an Explorable Area, Mission, Town, or Outpost, just double click the mini pet icon to see it and then double click the icon again to put it away. You may do this multiple times with no risk of losing your mini pet (unless of course your mini pet doesn’t like to be touched ).
A maximum of 20 is allowed per district for a Town or Outpost. An error message will show up if there are already 20 mini pets displayed in town and you try to display yours.
Which mini pets make sounds?
From what I've read:
Mini Mountain Trolls roar just like normal mountain trolls.
Mini Kuunavangs make a flapping sound and roar.
Mini Charr Shawmen growl.
Mini Hydras roar.
(provided by Enko)
Mini Island Guardian makes a tromping around on the ground sound.
Mini Naga Raincaller makes noises like a snake.
Mini pet sounds can not be heard in towns or outposts. You should be able to hear them in other areas.
Does a mini pet replace my normal pet? (such as Wolves, Warthogs, Cranes, etc)
No! A mini pet can be used at the same time as your normal pet and does not replace your normal pet in any way (other than perhaps getting more attention from people).

Nice, thanks for the list. Although that isn't really a Jungle Troll is it? The jungle trolls are green, those looks like Fen Trolls

Does the color of the name match the amount of money the pet will sell for? I just got my first pet yesterday, it was a Miniature Burning Titan. I wonder if I'll get more money out of it than I would from just a common white Devourer for example?
Not that I'm selling it anyways, it is my main characters pet, and so being the first pet in my account.

2 months till my second one. I'd like a bone dragon (yeah, I can dream), a titan or a jade armor. My freind has a prince rurik, and spends all his time mock complaining about it whenever we team up. I have a seige turtle, and nothing will ever beat that.

I swapped my bought Charr Shaman (45k. lol.) for a Siege Turtle, and I'm way more happy with it!
My mini-pet top 5:
1: Siege Turtle!
2: Kuunavang
3: Temple Guardian
4: Bone Dragon
5: Burning Titan (tripod ftw! :P)

In my time, I've owned...
Whiptail Devourer
Fungal Wallow
Jade Armor
Jungle Troll
Temple Guardian
Charr Shaman
Prince Rurik
Bone Dragon
The ones I still have are the Bone Dragon, Prince Rurik, and Jade Armor. The others I've since sold or traded. Hell, a couple times I've found myself with duplicates. *sigh* Still no Kuuna yet.

Anyone else dissapointed with that wierd snapping into a vertical position thing that the Kuunavang does when it stops? Bone Dragon is still the coolest of all of them.

Indirectly, yes. Color pretty much signifies the rarity. Most people get White pets, many get purple, some get gold, few get green. Except the CE pet, which everybody that has the CE gets. (insert generic explanation about what supply and demand does to prices here to prove why prices will go green > gold > purple > white, with the exception of the CE which I have no idea how it's price will end up since theres no random luck involved in getting it)

Kirin is, and always was, on the list. Although, originally I did not have a picture for it.

Yes, but the pet is actually named "Jungle Troll" not Fen Troll or Mountain Troll or anything, but apparently it looks green when you actually pull it out.
BTW, when I posted this the message boards gave me an error and said my post could not be saved and it didn't show up on the list, so I just got pissed and quit and deleted the pics lol. I just checked back today and had a PM about it, didn't realize anybody actually used this! I'll try to get it updated more now. I don't actually own most of these pets, so if people wouldn't mind posting pics of the pets actually outside that would be great for the list. =)
P.S. Thanks to Inde (I think it was Inde?) for editing my post while I was completely oblivious to it's existance =P

Kuunavang you get with the CE of Guild Wars. It was a thank you/apology by ArenaNet for people who bought CE.
All the rest you get on your 1 year anniversary of your characters creation. You get 1 pet per character. The pet you get is completly random.
Here's my listing on my fan site.... Click Click
