Nice work Zodiak, I like it...I will definitely get something like that up and running before the night is over. I am currently streaming this, so I will make it brief, but I did look into a launch button, and it is a bit tricky, if some1 else has some code to share, please do so...allows me to keep this running with less downtime, thanks.
EDIT
--------------
I did find a way to do this using tables. The link is under Frametest on my main page. I am going to eventualy move it to the regular stream link, but not until I am done testing...let me know what you think
It is rather simple at this point, but it does allow for some more functionality. I am still looking into a Lanch GW button...but most ways I have found to do it would be trying to launch it on my host server haha. I know there is a way...it is just a bit beyond me at this time. Anyway, now it should actualy tell you if the stream is not up, which is a little cleaner.
One thing that I am worried about is the screenstream header taking up just a bit too much room when I am running this in a table. For this reason, I am going to keep a link to the original stream window, as well as the new tablified (yes I just made that up) version.

What about a button that would pop open a window asking you to find the location of your GW.exe and then launching it? It's not the same thing and woudnt give that ready set fire feeling but worst case could that work?

Hehe, sorry about the search window scrolling up. I forgot that it does that when I dont sit here and scroll it down. I just want you guys to be aware that I really do not want to do anything truly automated, because that would be pushing botting. Though for a good purpose, and no gain to me, but you know how they deal with those kinds of things.
Anyway, just want to check with you guys and see if the new page with more stuff on it actually still opens the stream...as I can't test it myself hehe. Another thing that I am curious about, the stream doesnt get darker when I turn down my display brightness does it? I just don't want my comp to keep me awake at night lol.
EDIT
------------
Just had another thought. We should make a youtube video or something, that way people can really see that it works haha.
EDIT (again)
---------------------
I did some testing, and I did get the new layout to work with the stream, had a little URL error, and I changed it just a bit. Everything works dandy now

I keep trying to catch ya ingame Zodiak...I appreciate all the support from you guys. I am still looking into getting a second machine running this so that I could have it slightly less buggy and more permanent.

As it stands, if this truely works out. I would look into getting support from ANet to get a live feed from themselves. It may be a longshot but definatly one worth trying. Let's try to focus on making it work, keeping it stable and getting a nice read-out and anything could happen

That would be amazing if they actually took the idea up haha. I'll be honest I doubt it...as they are not changing much other than balance until GW2, they already announced search is staying as it is, but still worth a shot anyway. Even if they shoot us down, I can always continue to do it myself, because as it stands I don't see any rules it breaks. The only thing that I can see being an issue is the whole privacy issue, because anyone that says something to me becomes public. But, I don't see the difference between this and the ability to screen shot anything anyway...so there should be no real problem there. Worst come to worst I will set myself to DnD while streaming...though that gets boring real quick. Anyway, no more window flipping if anyone is watching, I am sorry (as well as for the lengthy post...just got home from work...lots of caffeine in me atm)
EDIT
----------------------
Just wanted to let you guys know...I am up to at least 1 report. This one was for "scamming". So, I am taking a vote...leave it up, or take it down?

I dont understand. Is all your doing standing in town and then using a software to stream screenshots to a web browser? how would people in town know? And for what reason would they report you for scamming?

Alrighty...just checking in here haha. I think tonight when I head to bed I am going to close the stream. My comp is going on about 36 hrs now...needs a break. Not built for this kind of long-term Anyway, I have decided to continue as I was...and we will see what comes out of the reporting incident earlier. Honestly I dont think there will be anything of it, but we will see. Everyone have a good night and I'll try and get back online tomorrow.

You would be able to have a texmodder to change your background of your text window to white. And then the OCR program would just need some tweaking to really get it reading it a bit better. The key would be training the program to understand the concepts of the trade. Most of them have a heuristic learning that can assist you in making it much more understandable. Either way, a pretty cool app. Now if gw would just allow us to dump that directly into text it would make this all SOOOO much easier.

Very cool idea, imagine a web page with the average current prices and a search able lists of what people are selling. Break it in to sections, ie axes, swords and type etc and you have no need for an in game auction house. I wonder if Anet would get involved and allow access to the streams for all areas? I have my doubts because of data protection etc.
Still it really is an amazing idea, kudos

Sorry guys...was out of town today and didnt have enough time to launch the stream. Just wanted to respond about the white background. I originally had the backgrounds white...but the pink text was extremely hard to read that way, so I made them pure black with no transparency instead.
As for using the OCR...I am not too worried about getting text out of it...it is the efficiency of getting it all done haha. I cannot sit here 24/7 and run screenshots through the program.
I will tell you what though...you come up with a way to do it...-then- come and let me know. I am sticking with the video, if it is not good enough then you can feel free to help with some improvements. I hate to be blunt, but that is all there is to it. I only say this because I am a tiny bit tired of hearing this is how you can do it...when I know this already...it is just actualy getting it done in any manner that doesnt require loads of work to get info up that would be outdated by the time it was done anyway.
EDIT
-------
Just want to let you all know that I am now putting a password on the stream to reduce the number of incoming connections, overall it should help to improve quality and/or speed. It is a little inconvenient, but anyone can just whisper me in-game to get the password.

I will look into ways to get it doing an auto OCR scan and then dumping the text file into a database which then could be displayed and searched. As for the project, great job and keep up the good work

veliisx and I have been looking into this in great detail and this project has made great strides since it's beginning. Just wait and keep an eye open for a new thread thats waiting for approval and I will let him talk more about it himself
It has been an amazing process and this project is still just taking off.

I figured I will update you guys on what Zodiak is indeed talking about. What I was able to accomplish is an auto updating searchable/sortable database of the current trades. As of now they are still choppy, but very legible. I did attempt to leave it running today, but ran into some issues...I had a window pop up and cover much of the trades haha. I will continue to work on improvements as much as I can and try to get it all back online in a short time. Please, if you would like to help test it out, or just take a look, whisper me in-game on Veliisx Spiritcall.
UPDATE
-------------------------
Just bringing you guys an update...I was able to get the program to run constantly with no problems (tested for about 6 hrs). Check it out at http://gwexchange.tk
