I am having trouble with directsong playing. I have the little yellow triangle reffering me to the troubleshooting site. I have tried all of the suggestions there as well as completely deleting all directsong files and reinstalling them, I have upgraded to IE 7 and media player 11. I have even gone so far as to delete and reinstall GW. still no help. Could anyone here offer some assistance please.

Make sure you can listen to them in Windows Media Player.
If they to play.

Re-download the music installer packs and install them to a different directory. Example, if there want to install in the My Documents/Music/DirectSong, change it to another location, the guild wars directory for example and install all the music to that new location.

IT is Trolling as in This is a DirectSong FAQ not your local pissing area for everything that you hate about DS. AND if you don't know what a soundtrack is then I suggest that you use Google.

Please follow the same advice I gave the first troll.

Not to mention that I would just love to have a paycheck from DirectSong, but unfortunately that won't happen anytime soon.

Update - DirectSong as Release GWEN SoundTrack

I've partially updated the guide to reflect that it retails for $9.99 in the US.
Will see if the new track sheet gets updated, and verify the bit rate, number of tracks, etc.

Also planning on reformatting / cleaning up the guide... any suggestions / comments.

Put up a notice that DirectSong's In-Game playback is broken for Vista.

EDIT: I take that back.

You have to use the RegisterDirectSongDirectory.exe file from the FTP server in your DirectSong directory. IT took a couple of tries but it worked.

The thing that I tried that was different from the last time I tried and failed with that register program was that THIS time I ran it as administrator.

In vista its usually Rightclick > Run as Administrator. That was probably the difference.

Unless a recent update to GW changed that. Last time I tried, the DirectSong logo wouldn't light up, but now it lights up.

Very good find, I added that to the trouble shooting section of the FAQ.

Another work around I found, for at least getting the DS registered to the system (instead of using RegisterDirectSongDirectory.exe), is install the Sorrow's Furnace pack 1st, it using the old installer which makes all the registry entries in Vista correctly, and all the other ds will know where to install / properly update the registry.

Well, I never used that method because the installers had problems finding the flash player last time.

I have some problems with directsong and vista, by using the manual installatation and the register program I can get the Sorrows Furnace and battle paks to work fine. I can't however get the factions and nightfall CE bonus music to work.

the directory structures seem different any ideas? For example the sorrows furnace and battle paks are folder which contain all the music, these are then placed in my direcsong folder ie: direcsong/battle pak one or directsong\sorrows furnace pak.

the factions folder is like this direcsong/GWF01E\directsong\......music

I have tried changing them to no avail

Can some please help me with this

Thanks.

The file structure should be

something.dll
GuildWars.ds
Album 1 folder
Album 2 folder
Album 3 folder
etc

You may have to re-run the DS packs to a new location / folder, and make sure all following DS packs install to that new location.

User/Music/DirectSong is a good location or try installing it to the Guildwars root folder in program files.

It sound like it created sub folders

so if you have

folder\Directsong\album
and folder\Directsong\something\Directsong\album
Move the "album" back to the root of the 1st Directsong

I can post an example of the file structure, when I get home.

The problem with the Factions bonus music is that all the songs are in a folder called directsong which is a sub folder of GWF01e. I have copied all the songs into the GWF01e folder and run the register program but it wont pick them up. They would look like this at the moment:

Guild Wars\Directsong\GWF01e\directsong\.....then the songs.

The Battle pak directory structure is like this:

Guild Wars\Directsong\Guild Wars Battle Pak One\....then the songs

The factions pak has a subdirectory called directsong. I downloaded the zipped versions since the flash downloader won't work in windows vista, least I can't get it to work. All ds file is the latest aswell.

Download this file, http://www.directsong.com/zip/GuildWars.txt
then rename it GuildWars.ds

There is one bug / error in (affects Factions / Cantha and a song not playing) see Sparticuz post above.
The one missing the [ braket seems to be fixed, but the one that missing the 15_~~~~ is still not fixed.

They updated the ds file today so that it includes the songs for GW:EN. I havn't had time to check to see if the bugs have been fixed (or more introduced). I'll look at it more closely this weekend.

Did they correct the typos in the DS file or is it still the same ol, just with the GWEN score?
