Default RobsysGames Introduces: Video Farming Tutorials 2011!

Hey everyone
Recently I've heard over on the GW2 guru that a lot of new players are coming in and playing Guild Wars. I still play it now and then (a quick pvp match whilst I convert my youtube videos to HD )
Anyway, I thought I'd come over and share a project I've started. I've begun to create tutorials on how to farm, for the new people who are joining. It's all good to search for something on youtube, such as HM Underworld Ecto Farm, but you click on it and find that the video was made in 2006 and the build is just, well, not available to use any more.
Therefore I've put together 2 tutorials so far and am accepting ideas for other farming videos (so if you want to see a specific farm, let me know and I'll see if I can post a tutorial )
Feel free to check out my videos so far:

New Video as of 23/08/2011:

Also if anyone has any ideas on how to improve my videos, feel free to let me know ^^ (http://www.youtube.com/user/RobsysGames)

I much prefer the video info for the spirit spammer. It's really hard to read the armor specification on the ele video. It's much easier if you can just say "max armor with geomancer insignia" and then maybe just list the 5 runes you used.

But I like the long write up. Even though a lot of people might not need it, it's useful for people like you mention in the post who have never farmed before. Also one thing I might say is missing from the write up is to mention to use tab to cycle through enemies while spamming wastrel. Things like this will be really useful for people who don't have the experience.

But I like it. A lot of people just throw up a video with an incomprehensible description. Nice to see someone putting in so much effort. Also maybe a link to a gwpvx article if there is a relevant one.

I prefer the guide in the video description. I don't really like the annotation system people use saying "use skill so and so here" and then it disappears again. I like to have the video as a kind of visual aid, just to show people the build in action and the general way the farm goes.
But thanks for the heads up about the armour decription in the ele video! I wouldn't have noticed that otherwise. I guess with nearly 3000 views on that video I should change it
I'm also going to start uploading all of my videos in HD now, simply so that if people want to see exactly what I'm clicking on with crystal clear vision - they can (I know some people don't care, but others do so the option is there for them )

Just some advice, stop using a lot of tags that have nothing to do with your video:

Guild Wars 2011 2012 UW HM NM Underworld Spirit Spammer Ecto Farming Tutorial Eye of the North prophecies easy money cod call duty black ops modern warfare world at war halo pvp reach odst assassin's creed brotherhood spider-man spiderman x-men wolverine hulk captain america hard mode ritualist dervish paragon monk warrior ranger pet assassin shadow form sf nuker dps fraps mmo mmorpg races tyria arenanet anet necromancer kodan quaggar krait batman robin yt:stretch=16:9 yt:quality=high

^^the above list is from your underworld video.
The list SHOULD look something more like:

guild wars gw sos spirit spammer underworld uw farm guide tutorial ritualist ecto ectoplasm chamber reaper of the labyrinth

Anything more is pretty childish and a failing attempt to get people to accidentally find your video. If you make good enough videos, people will find them and watch them on purpose.

Have another video This is a tutorial on how to farm feathers in Guild Wars. As always, the actual guide and all info relating to it is in the video description. It's also in 1080p HD if you're one of those HD nuts Enjoy!

Interesting because when people farm feathers I've only heard of them doing Jaya Bluffs and that mission.. I think it's Nahpui Quarter. Have you tried these two places and compared drops? I might try this run.

Really? Hmm...interesting. I've always done this run and it takes me about 10-12 minutes and I get about 100 feathers from it. This is in Normal Mode. You get more in Hard Mode but it's a pain working through the patrols and getting past the fire imps at the start. In Hard Mode it takes me a good 20 minutes + and the number of feathers you get for it just make the run not worth it at all.

I've tried Naphui Quarter and I can safely say that the rate of feather drops is pathetic. You get about 60 if that from the mission. The mission itself takes a good 15 minutes anyway and that's without going out of your way to find the tengu

I haven't tried the other place but might give it a go and compare drops. Thanks for the heads-up

Yeah well the good thing about Naphui is you also get high level items, meaning more merch gold but also you get iron which is good because I use my feathers to make consets.

More merch gold but if you're just after feathers then yeah, this run would be the best I'd say. If I were after tonnes of merch gold I'd probably go out to the sewers in Hard Mode and just nuke everything there

Here are my two cents; after learning about learning in psychology, there are three types a way someone an learn; visual, audio and kinthsetic (feel). It's an obvious you can't learn by doing until you actually do it so this eliminates a video in this regard. The ideal combination is to have a detailed write up with a video. It may take awhile but your effort will not be wasted in the long run.

Here are some suggestions on videos: (by the way I can make a video on one of these tomorrow)

Feather farming (naiphu quarter and jaihi bluffs)
Iron ignot farming
Chest running
UW farming (rit and war builds)
Specific farms (vatteirs / raptors)
Elite time farming (mes, monk and rit)

Very good idea for all the new players tho! Gz on being nice

I always found it hard to learn a run from just a video, so that's why I always put a full run guide in the video description

In regards to the runs you've posted:
Feather farming, I've addressed with my ritualist, although if people want it I can look into Naphui Quarter and Jahai Bluffs

Iron Ingot Farming - no idea where to do that, or even how to do it, but again, if people want it I really wouldn't mind

Chest running - would this be high-end chests or the monthly treasure chests?

UW farming - I've done with a ritualist, although I could find a build for a warrior or monk and go from there

Vaettirs - done

Raptors - Used to do it with a Warrior/Elementalist and even had a video up of it on my old youtube account. Unfortunately for me, they appear to have nerfed the skill or just made the boss slightly harder, so I can't use the build anymore. I do still have a warrior, though, so I may look into making a video of that

No idea how to do elite tome farming

Another video I may work on soon is a 130HP dervish farm in the Forgotten City in Nightfall. I know it's not a very popular farm but it gets great tomes, lots of rep and a fair bit of kinah as well.
If anyone wants to help me with videos, or even want me to edit the videos for them, let me know as I have Sony Vegas 10 and be more than happy to help ^^
