This will be the last post I make in this thread. In 15 days, the last beta even occurs, and in 25 days, we're launched. Waiting around debating the nuances of memory pipes and heat transfer isn't going to get Mindbullets playing any faster, just confused.

If you will all recall his first posts, he is using dial up to access GW. Some of you may want him to spend as much as you wish you could to buy a new system, but the fact remains that his data path is SLOW. Why he doesn't have DSL or cable is none of my business, but I wish people would put aside their personal prejudices and not confuse the issue for him.

I would go with the Ibuypower computer myself. But get the dvd burner. I checked into one a few months ago. Then decided to upgrade mine instead of buying everything. Another site to check is www.cyberpowerinc.com they are about the same as Ibuy. They both use name brand parts.

I just yesturday ordered a Dell Inspirion 9300 laptop. It was like a $1,800+ (after discounts) laptop for $1,200. If I would have ordered it a month ago it would have easily set me back $2,200-$2,400. I mean, it's even got the 17 inch "TrueLife" (crystal clear screen) and GeForce 6800 Go upgrades! The moral of the story? You can in fact get good deals from big name businesses such as Dell, you just have to be smart and patient about it. My advice for those looking for a nice system on a budget who can't build their own computer? Lurk on over to the forums at www.fatwallet.com and wait for a good deal.

My brother has a Compaq that has been running for years, they make solid computers no matter what anyone says. Especially if that "anyone" has never owned a Compaq. But I would suggest building a computer.

A Compaq? Please tell me you're kidding. Even after they were bought out by Hewlett-Packard they are still garbage. Why? Because Hewlett-Packard is garbage too. Compaq? The only time I hear them refered to is being called "Comcr**".

Heh, my dad bought a Compaq when they first got really huge into the first DVDs and it came with a few DVD Games which was cool. They do make solid systems but I would not say for long term use and when I say "long term" I mean more than 4 years, atleast that is what I have to say about my experience.

Virt, I work usually about 23 to 31 hrs a week and spend from 8:30am till usually 2:20pm or 3:30pm at school. Fun fun fun. The other time is spent reading forums, playing CS:S, CS:CZ, Knight Online, and desiring to play GW. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

EDIT: and when I say solid I mean solid like diarrhea

Maybe I missed it, but your WAY over budget already w/o a video card, Noone was talking about heat pipes (but I could have missed it), and that system sucks for that price (after all the rebates it still is overpriced.. do you know the manufacturer of the motherboard?)... I noticed you left out the warranty that sets Dell above homemade PC's? But since noone else is offering any suggestions, then I say it's between this one and a homemade one. MindBullet's it is up to you in the long run, do we continue this thread (I haven't noticed you comment at all). Oh, and Virt, I have a Dell Laptop also for 1200 dollars, but I chose a longer battery life (steered clear of the 9200..9300 series because of the 1.5 hour battery life, I have classes longer than that w/o accessible power outlets). I just wanted to state this so people don't think I'm against Dell, if you want a Dell, get a Dell.... if you want to build your own, build your own. Do what you want/need to do, to get the system YOU want.
