lo lads! I have a few questions, and if you would be so kind to answer a few of them it would help me greatly!

Im think of buying this game, however i find the minimum specs and reccomended ones a bit hard to beleave. If you look at the screenshots you get my point!

So does this game really run on a p3 1 ghz with 512 mb ram and a video card of 64 megs?

Since (as far as i know) lineage 2 creators also helped making this game, i have lineage 2 and it needs a gig of ram to run smoothly at some points

So the 2nd question is: Has anyone tried the highest settings and did it run smoothly? What are your specs?

My specs are p4 2.4 GHZ
Windows XP sp1
Ati Radeon 9700
512 MB RIMM (1ghz ramm)
7200 RPM 120 GB HDD 8 mb cache

And last but not least! Hows the game?!

Your computer will run the game very well. While it is true that NCSoft, the people publishing LineageII, are also publishing Guild Wars, they are just publishers. Publishers supply the money, developers, like ArenaNet, are the ones that develope the games.

Celeron 1.3 ghz

I run the game without aliasing at 1024x768 without any lag. No I haven't tried playing with a higher resolution and yes the graphics started to lag without being connected when I would turn on anti-aliasing. However I have come to realize it is likely the 5200 graphics engine not having enough horses to really support direct x 9. Currently, because it would be easiest to do I am getting a 5950 pci card. It will have the horsepower I need as a graphics card considering it is 30 times faster in drawing to the memory. I am hoping I can at least use anti-aliasing then.

Yours should be absolutely fine to run the game.

As far as the game I find it incredibly well done. The client is only 96 or 128k I believe which, from a programming perspective, is an ingenious feat. It takes some getting used to as far as not grinding to level up or get that special armour etc. You don't realize how much you are conditioned to expect that until you play a game without it.

What is most fascinating is the stir and sense of loyalty that players get once they realize the level cap is low and they don't have to grind, there are no uber uber uber weapons and unbalancing buffs or nerfs from hell, you don't lose anything when you die either, etc. This is without mentioning that you buy the game and can play it, no monthly fees. That's not a plus or minus to the game to me, that's just a pleasant surprise from a game software company.

With GuildWars it seems we as the player get more say, more control over what we do than in other games. We might not be able to move boxes and kick rocks, or that kinda thing but we sure get to determine our skills, how they are played, strategies to get through some areas that are almost impossible until you gain the higher level skills, and, most importantly, how to get along and coordinate with others as the PVP is team based. The missions, or PVE, are designed to take into account what we have done previously so we even influence these outcomes by what we did previously.

Totally refreshing for me.

It may be hard to believe, but it is entirely true. That is one of the things that turned me onto this game. I don't have to upgrade my entire system to play the next newest thing that is not only enjoyable to play but also VERY easy on the eyes and down right beautiful in some places ' Kudos' to the GW artists!!!

I play this game on a 950 mhz duron with a TI4200 64 meg card, with a cable connection and it runs and looks great. You should have zero problems.

With almost any game these days, more memory is always better, but you do not need a gig of ram. Personally I'd say 512 is average, 768 you will see a 'load time' improvement, and 1 gig or more is excellent.

Obviously I do not run on the highest settings, but I am happy to say that I see everything in the game as the developers intended it otherwise I would not be so happy with the appealing graphics.
One side question for you, why are you still running Service Pack 1? You know microsoft comes out with updates and upgrades to normally fix the plethora of security issues along with other fixes. Why are you holding back?

Answer to your 2nd question:
I ran it at 1280x1024, 3xAA (4x started to lower the framerate) and full everything. I wish there was surround sound though...I like to use my 5.1 system :P. No problem with load times, although that probably has to do with the speed and amount of memory I have.

Specs are:
AMD Athlon64 3200+ (2GHz)
1 GB PC3200 DDR (400MHz) - It's 2x512 running on 1 channel each, so I'm getting 800MHz in theory. Also, the FSB is on the processor instead of in the northbridge, which gives me a nice boost.
GeForce FX5900XT 128MB @ 8x AGP
120GB 7200RPM 2MB Cache HDD
5.1 Surround (it's actually onboard my MSI mobo, but it's great and supports up to 7.1.)
Cable internet @ 4Mbps down/384Kbps up

Ran like a dream, and the only hiccups were normal server lag (a skip every 20 or so minutes, not constant lag) and having 150-200 people dancing around the fire in AC D1.
