im having the same problem. i reinstalled directx, i installed the latest video card drivers, then i even uninstalled em and ran the version guys in my guild r running, and i still freeze, crash etc. i thought it might be heating problems so even after stripping my tower down, and putt 2 large fans on it, still didnt work. restarted my computer like 20 times, i checked bios options on heating. dunno what else to do. also reinstalled guildwars.

ya ive been just about as hardcore as you; ive been doing memory swaping and all that other fun stuff. Now im just convinced that its the game that has the problems, especially since every other game ive ever used on this computer has and does work just fine.

Seems like a familiar problem with pushing the CPU past its heat limits...If you have made any changes to CPU/fan/heatsink or if you have not played any demanding games lately you may want to check to see that your heatsink is set properly on the CPU...I've had this problem before when I changed out to the AMD 3200+, I could work all I wanted on the computer, but as soon as I made any kind of heavy demand...crash...I reseated the heatsink with some fresh compound and haven't had a problem since. Could, of course, be an entirely different problem...directX9c screwed me up similarly with screne resolution and black-outs, reinstalled a few times til it went right...try reloading the client too...My laptop quit running GW until I uninstalled and reinstalled the client and updated my drivers...It would load most of the way, say it was at 100% then lock up completely...no prob now. Just my 3 cents.

What firewalls or spyware programs are any of you running?

I had alot of problems with spybot and GuildWars. Can you all be more detailed maybe about the software you have loading at boot up? I am just looking for the common denominator. I mean if you all are having the same error there is a real good chance it is something common. Oh and amount and brand of ram, as well as timing, long shot but you never know. Maybe you all have the same motherboard? Same manufacturer? Sorry I am just so curious and love solving this kinda stuff!

These are the drivers that you are using. They ARE NO GOOD. You must get an earlyier version.

Go to guru3d.com for the drivers. They have all the drivers.

These are the best for your card.

66.93, 66.00, 61.77, 61.71, 61.34, 61.12, 61.11, 60.72, 56.72, 56.64, 53.03.

Go with what Drizzt says. You may have to test different sets though; it took me a little while to find the right ones from guru3d.

BTW, talking to everyone: if any of you play UT2004, don't get anything between 67xx and 69xx. They'll crash you when you exit the game . IIRC, I think I'm using 7180 on my FX5900XT.

I am still waiting for them to post their hardware and startup software details. I am pretty confident there is a common denominator.

Default Norton

I had a similar problem with CS:S and I found that Norton Anti-Virus was causing it. Sometimes its tries to call an IRQ that the game is using. I then read a Chicago Tribune article that confirmed my findings. I would suggest losing norton and getting something else.

You can get AVG or AntiVir for free; they're better than Norton (I know from experience: I had 8 viruses that were not detected previously by NAV and found by AntiVir.) AVG and AntiVir also take less system resources than NAV.
AVG: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
AntiVir: http://www.free-av.com/
REMEMBER: only use one AV program at a time! They can interfere with each other if you have more than one installed.
