Guild Wars Support: I am trying to log into Guild Wars during a Beta Weekend Event and am having technical difficulties.
Quote:
Guild Wars requires the following port(s) to be open: TCP: 6112

This port needs to be open in order to access the Guild Wars servers. If you are on a college or corporate network, then you will have to request that the network administrator open these ports. Connection difficulties on college and corporate networks are often the result of this port being blocked.

If the PC you are using accesses the Internet using a consumer broadband connection, then it is likely that the issue is caused by either a router setting, or a security/firewall setting. To address any configuration settings with security/firewall software, make sure to disable any security software that may be running. You can also go into the firewall options and permit the “gw.exe” file to access the Internet. If you are using a router, open the port 6112 in the router settings to troubleshoot whether it is the router preventing access. If opening the port on the router is ineffective, then you can determine whether the error is related to the router by removing the router completely and connecting the PC directly to the broadband modem.

If you can update and log in to the game while directly connected to your Internet connection with the router removed, then either the ports on the router need to be opened or there is most likely an issue with the router. If you are unsure as to whether you have a router or not, then please contact your ISP or the computer administrator that set up your Internet connection.
