Hey I am psyched about Guild Wars, but I am wondering if my PC can run this game:

1.4ghz amd athlon
384mb ram
128mb GeForce FX 5200

I suppose that is sufficient

Yep, it will work, but probably on worst graphics ( still great though ). Try getting some more ram, if you can, maybe a 512 stick. Then, when you get a new processor and vid card ( you will, eventually ) you can just move it into the new computer.

1.2 Ghz Cereron (running at 1.4)
512/133 ram
5200 fx card
Windows 98 SE

If I were you I'd swap out that 128 meg for a 256 first chance you get so you have at least 512. I have no lag at 1024x768 with anti aliasing off and medium to high quality settings as in-game settings. I am on DSL. If you are not you might have some lag until you are actually using the release version of the game with CD.

Oh and don't use the latest drivers. I use 61.77, now if you do that too, go to the nvidia settings for the desktop manager and set the image quality setting to "high quality." There is an issue with the 5200 FX and guild wars, and what I just told you gets rid of it. The new drivers also seem to have a problem.

***NOTE***
If you are using Spybot, uninstall it and try something else. I replaced it with SpySweeper from www.webroot.com. Spybot interferes miserably with GuildWars, or at least it did for me. Character would lag and stand there, then attack for a second then 5 more seconds of lag and stand there, not frozen, they just weren't getting any commands. Just a fair warning.

heres some of my specs..

256 MB RAM
Celeron D Processor
2.80 GHz

and thats all i can think of right now. but will GW work on a computer like this without lag or something?

LostSoul, you probably need another 256 ram, preferably get a total of 1 gig if you can.

However what video card you got? at least a Radeon 9200 or nvidia 5200 FX if you want to be able to at least have 1024 x 768 res with reasonable quality. Any radeon "SE" card is half "crippled," so to speak so best to have just a 9200, 9600, etc. "XT," is good though.

If you only have on board graphics it might run but it'll probably be the lowest possible settings and then you definitely need more ram.

Nvidia "SE" editions are actually better than the original card.

Anyway, what video card you have?

You will need more ram for sure and likely the game won't be as nice as it could be but it shouldn't be totally horrible, you might be able to get to 1024x768 res with not too bad a quality so long as you get more ram. I'd suggest getting another 512 megs myself.

would the graphics look laggy or something like that? would it look decent tho like what year would the game look like it came out lol

Go to www.guildwars.com and download the client, then run it and it should take you to the login screen after it downloads all the updates. If it is laggy there make adjustments using the options in the lower right corner of the login screen. If you can't get rid of the lag you know what you are dealing with. If you can get rid of it then you know you need to turn it down a little more so that you won't be lagging while playing, alright? I would get the RAM first though as I am sure you will lag horribly without it.

Yea, i have a POS dell too. once i upgraded the driver, it let me in the game, but if I tryed to move ANYTHING in my invitory my comp would freeze. After this happened afew times, I just got me a new GC and no probs sence.

so the client and the really thingy will look the same? like if the client lags, then the reall thing will lag too?

Okay, yes and no. If the graphics is lagging now you can expect it can only get worse with more graphics as you play the game with more people and object. You see? So it isn't exact but it is a good guide, a good reference point.

That's okay for now, I mean, until you buy a preorder or the release is in your hands you won't have a code to put in. If you buy a preorder you'll have a code. So you might be able to play 1 day early then, and depending where you get it from you might get a special item. Check www.guildwars.com to see the items. But if it came up and isn't lagging, you're half way to knowing if you can play without problems.

I'd still make sure to buy the ram though, no matter what.

when i get the 512 RAM thingy, how would i put it in my computer? and the client stuff runs pretty decent..would a pentium 4 processor make anymore faster?

If you don't know how to put one in, get help, even before you order it. Do not attempt to put it in without some wise overseeing eyes near by. Yours is a celeron running at a good clock rate, well this game runs fine on my 1.3 ghz celeron, yours is like twice mine. I would say, don't worry about it until you play and realize an actual problem. And then, I'd say look at video first. Graphics cards are important because the graphics "offloads" to them. So say you have a processor like mine, the better the graphics card (to a point) the more the card does the graphics so the processor can handle the game itself. See? Yours is probably gonna be ram, and then graphics card. You aren't gonna need to go beyond that unless you get into a far more complex video game.
