Default Radeon 9600/9700 problems

I am at a bit of a loss of what to do. I have a laptop, and everytime I try to play Guild Wars, about 5 minutes in the game, it crashes and I need to restart the computer. I've identified that it's a problem with my Radeon, but what I don't seem to get is that I can't update to the newer version at ATI.com... It says something like the video card doesn't exsist. Also, I have tried several times reinstalling the drivers for it, but it still messes up when I play the game. Any ideas of what I can do? I've tried almost everything....

What card do you have in your laptop? I installed the updated drivers from ATI.com just fine on mine, I have a 9600.

Talking Driver needs to be cleaned!

Sounds like a problem I have had in the past with drivers. Try using this free program http://www.drivercleaner.net/ to completely remove your old driver. Make sure you look at the readme.file and do as it says. Running you should be able to install the new drivers. Hope this helps!!

ok, I tried that program like you suggested, but when I went to install the new drivers, it did the same thing, it said INF ERROR Video Card Not Found... Any suggestions?

the catalyst drivers do not recognize the laptop video chips. you either need to download a hack, or download 3rd party drivers like at omegadrivers.net that have this feature enabled.

there is a really good chance that you do not actually have a graphics card. to find out what your graphics chipset is, you can right clock on your desktop, choose "properties", and the click on the "settings" tab.

Yea, most laptop graphics cards will not work with their desktop counterpart drivers. For example, chances are you cannot use the ATI unified drivers for your laptop. I know for a fact the NVIDIA unified drivers do not work with my laptops GeForce 6800 Go and I do indeed need specialized drivers from Dell.

ok, I managed to update the drivers finally, but the game is still crashing...... Anyone else getting the same problem, and is there a way to fix it? Cause I just can't stand playing the game if it keeps crashing every five minutes.....
