Hi,
My computer has a P3 processor with 850mhz, 196mb ram,and 16mb of video ram. Was wondering if my current system could handle Guild Wars at all...

Very unlikely. Min req. is 256 RAM and 32 VRAM=288 RAM

I've seen someone that only had 256 total with a 32 integrated VRAM that could run it, but it was so horribly slow that he couldn't play it. He said it took 4-5 minutes of lag until he could actually control his character much, and any action around him would lag him out.

You might be able to open the game, you'd be lucky if you could login, but moving around and actually enjoying the game....not going to happen.

Head over to www.newegg.com and buy some new hardware. Preferablly two sticks of RAM that are the same size because having RAM that are different sizes can cause major stability issues.

I think a new video card is more of a priority than RAM. Make sure your video card isn't integrated before you look into the (good) AGP cards. Otherwise, look at the (worse) PCI cards if your video card is integrated onto the motherboard.

Yes they are diffrent. I have never actually SEEN RAM from a laptop befor.
But scroll down to bottom of this page.. see the white Quick Reply box? Thats how big one stick of PC ram is.
You should probably contact the company that made your laptop to find out exactly what you need to do. Or find out what kind of laptop you have and see if you can find some info on the internet about it. Google

oh heck im out of candy.. eep

Typically it's more difficult to install laptop RAM and it is, as with the majority of (Micro) laptop hardware, smaller than normal. Therefore you can't go buy generic RAM and put it in. Like ocoini said, you should contact the company you may have purchased it from or check the specs to see if it will support another module of RAM and try and get it installed yourself. You can do this by finding out your motherboard model. You can do that (furthermore) by downloading a program like CPU-Z ( http://www.cpuid.org/cpuz.php ).

As for the original post, your memory (Both system and VGA) are below minimum requirements, and therefore it will not run. (It may run the client, but gameplay is a different story) Although technically you should have 256MB of RAM, because I've never heard of 196.
