Thumbs down Just bought GW, serious Graphics Issue

Okay this is what my game looks like...

My system is waay over the recommended requirements...
1024 MB of Kingston DDR RAM
AMD Athlon 3000+ 2.6 GHz
GeForce FX 5200 128MB Ultra

yet it still looks like crap... I play WoW, FFXI, SWG and L2 and have never had a problem with my graphics before and have no idea why it's like this... I've reinstalled several times, and played with all the graphic options as well yet performance is still horrible with artifacts ALL over the screen with extreme slow down and choppy frame rates... it's quite clear this is a GW related issue since I've never had it before so hopefully someone can tell me what the hell is wrong with it?

Regards,
fritz

Try turning down some of the graphics options. Your graphics card is very underpowered to be running at full settings for such a modern game. You would need something like a ATi 9800 Pro or a Nvidia 5900XT to be able and do that comfortably.

Right click on your desktop->properties->settings-> advanced-> Tab that says "GeForce 5200 Ultra" -> Performance & Quality Settings.

See if Anisotrophic filtering is on... That messes up a lot of my games sometimes.

Is it on "High Performance" settings?

This is not a hardware/software related issue, because the card is supported. It isn't working due to your configuration.

I have had the same problem, after more than 7 hours play time both times. AND, only since release.( I played a LOT during the BWEs)

The first time, I rebooted GW and this fixed it. Last time, I shut down and everything was fine the next time I started.

I want to know what it is.

Anisotrophic filtering? I have the same card and I see no control for this.

Screwed up textures like that are often caused by the video RAM overheating. Crank down your video settings to the minimum and cool off the inside of your case and I'm sure you'll at least notice some difference.

It's a contrast problem relating to video card. At least sometimes it is.

Did you update your drivers?
if so, reinstall.

Method?
Uninstall old drivers.
Reboot.
Boot into safemode and use a driver cleaner ( http://www.drivercleaner.net/ recommended. It's what i use)
Reboot.
Install new drivers (or current).
Reboot again.

Then it should work now.
Sometimes the files don't get deleted, and still stay there.

Why don't you just read this:

Quote:
I am using a NVidia GeForce FX video card and am having trouble seeing some terrain features

There is a known issue with NVidia GeForce FX video cards (GPUs) and driver version 61.77 when the user has changed "Image Settings" to "High performance". Some of the problems include missing terrain. The solution is to change your video settings to "High quality". To do this, follow these instructions: On Windows XP:

-Open Display Properties control panel
-Click Settings tab
-Click Advanced button
-Click GeForce "Version" tab
-Select Performance and Quality Settings in left window
-In the Global Driver Settings window select Image Settings
-Move the slider to the right to "High quality"

The video cards/GPUs that are affected by this problem are:

GeForce FX 5200
GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
GeForce FX 5500
GeForce FX 5700
GeForce FX 5700 Ultra
GeForce FX 5700LE
GeForce FX 5900
GeForce FX 5900 Ultra
GeForce FX 5900 XT
GeForce FX 5950 Ultra
GeForce PCX 5300
GeForce PCX 5750
GeForce PCX 5900

LordCrono, your card isn't one of the problem cards listed. LoL.

Same problem here. I am using 5700le card. The game look fine for few minute after login, then some of the grass turn white like those in your screen shots. I follow whatever writen in GW support page, which included update my video card driver to the latest 7x.xx version, setting image to high quality and install direct x 9c. Stills, nothing help. I am hopeless now, hopefully they'll push out a new patch soon.

This happened to me only once, but exactly the same problem with a Geforce 4 MX 440 SDR. It happened when I alt/tabbed to the internet while playing and came back to the game. I simply Alt/tabbed again and the graphics went back to how they should be. Dunno, but maybe it will help you too.

Fritz, how are you getting 2.6GHz on your AMD Athlon 3000+? is it A64? overclocked quite a bit? or what? 'cause my AMD A64 3000+ is only going at 1.8ghz.

It also might be a overclocking issue (if you actually did), I've heard overclocking anything may cause problems with GWs.
