how did you come up with 416 MB rqm?

and is it the old SDR ram or the DDR ram?

either way thar ram is low especially if you have win xp

the cellie is a baasket case as well

i will double check but i think the card is a crippled 64 bit version

edit

it is the 64 instead of the 128 version

128 MB video ram but a 64 bit interface

edit

le/ls are indicators of that as opposed to no sufix or PRO/XT

I would think the processor. Even switching to a p3 1ghz should be a noticable improvement.

Hopefully your board goes to 1.4, in that case, a p3 in that range would run guild wars well.

do you think that having DDR ram would improve it a lot?

This is a real CON, those marketing people should be shot for coming up with a lame spec to attract buyers to buy a product that really needs twice the spec a comsumers has. You don't turn around and tell everyone, after they brought the game to buy better components. Really the game now costs around $200 after fixing your OVERHEATING issues.

Can't use any AMD processors in an intel board after Socket 7.

Man, that system is out of date. Fact is, you'll find bottlenecks everywhere with it. Last I checked, even a cheap socket A system can be like 250-300 dollars, even with a gig of RAM. That's GOOD RAM too, not value bin stuff.

I'm gonna do a newegg run for you right quick, so you can see what I mean.

Sempron 2400 Retail box, much faster processor than yours. For theuninitiated, while the Sempron is the "value line", the socket A versions are almost identical to an Athlon XP. Cache sizes are the same, FSB is different.

Chaintech 7NJL6 nForce 2 Ultra 400 motherboard, personal choice of mine for inexpensive systems. There are cheaper boards, but none I trust more. I have three Chaintech Zeniths in my house, I'll buy them over just about anyone.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231012

G.SKILL 2x512 CAS 2 memory kit. Runs dual channel on AMD and Intel boards that support it, and fast out the box.

If you think that's gonna overtax your power supply... I submit ths for yor approval.

I use about one of these a week building systems, and with the specs I quoted, it'll power everything just fine. With all parts, shipping included you're still under 300, and you can use your old hard drive, opticals, and video card to round out the deal.

See if this wouldn't really improve your gameplay (for all games, not just GW.)

A fair amount, but it'll still be slow...

If it's all you got, take it. It's certainly better than nothing.

50 dollars for the game

where does the other 150 dollars come from?

the last person with an overheating problem solved it by getting the dust out of his heatsink/fan

and a 1 gig celeron does not equal the minimum 800 mgz p3 which has twice the memory

and sdr ram is so old it is almost a special order item

if it is in good shape and meets the minimum specs it will run
they never said in 1600x1200 with all the stops out
