Default Possible fix for freeze-ups (I hope.. :) )

What I did was really simple. A friend of me said it was ridiculous to always update your drivers. So I installed the default drivers from the CD I gained with my videocard. After that I set AGP to 4x and Fast Write off (didn't work for me with the newest drivers) and yesterday and today I experienced 1 crash. The rest of the sessions lasted for 2 hours. Not freezed up but logged out myself.

I don't wanna call out succes just yet (that's calling misery upon yourself.) So this is all speculation and no confirmations. (I still wish for luck every time I start the game *prays* .) I just HOPE it will last to work quite well as it did these two days.

Hope this can help some people with their freeze-ups.

Dropping AGP from 8x to 4x would probably decrease performance (on some systems it might not be as big as on others), though it might solve issues that some people might be having.

By the way - when you're asking for computer help on gaming (or any other computer) forums, it's best to list your computer's hardware, operating system and driver versions if possible.

The problem that I used to have with GW on my system was that my processor is a Pentium4 with HyperThreading technology. For some reason it would randomly freeze the system from time to time (during previews). I would solve this by turning HT off in the BIOS each time that I was playing the game.

When I got the final version this problem was eliminated.

disabling fast writes in BIOS seemed to definately delay my game crash. also my agp runs in 4x anyway cus my motheerboard is slow, so I would say AGP speed has no effect on the freezing to graphics driver error window
