Sounds like somthing in the background is eating away at your memory so to speak. Do you run any additional programs in the background when you play?

This may sound silly, but I myself run WinAmp in the background and listen to internet radio as I play guildwars. I know windows ME has some issues with ram, but this is only speculation.

Either way it sounds like your running low on memory as you play. I have a similar problem with a diffrent game, but I can go for hours before having to correct it, so i've never really sought a solotion to it.

It could be heat buildup in your GPU. That's what mine was doing. It would play well for 10-15 minutes and then start the lag-like symptoms. Turning the graphics options down didn't help once it had heated up. I put a household fan on it for now and have an Antec Tornado (2-expansion slot fan) on the way.

Its your video card. I find after a while you need to dump the cashe and refresh the memory so to speak.

Next time it starts to slow down, alt tab out of the game then go back in. It should be running a little smoother.

Your also running a problem card, check this link and follow the instructions.

*EndEdit*
And I wouldn't try and shut down Explorer, thats your windows running.
