Hello All,

A long story... I have bought 2 original copies of Guild Wars. However, a friend ordered one of them on my behalf. He's given me to security code but hasn't yet got round to giving me the disk itself.

I've installed the first copy (that I have the disks for) succesfully. But now I'm trying to install from those disks again on my son's machine to use the second security code, and I'm getting a 'failed to initialize error' just after the download from Arena.net.

Could this be because I'm trying to install from disks which have already been used to set up an account, or could it be another problem? Any ideas would be appreciated...

Is the game installing at all? You don't need the disks to install the game, you can download the client from the guildwars.com website and let it download from them...of course, this will take longer than using the disks.

You won't need your 2nd serial number until you try to create a second Guildwars account. Just make sure you create a new account using a different email address!
If you don't, you may just assign two serial numbers to the same account (if this is at all possible - i wouldn't want to try)...effectively ruining one of them.

Mmmmmnmmm. My problem is fixed now. I have Cybersitter on my sons machine and it was blocking it. DOH.

But now you have me worried - have I bought 2 copies unnecessarily?

If both you and your son want to play at the same time (you on your computer and him on his computer), you need 2 copies. If you didn't want to play at the same time and were going to let him use your account, you wasted your money on the extra copy. Just think, now you guys can group and play together.

Ah phew. Thats a relief! Yes, the intention is for us to play together.
