Default Video issues (gamma)

How do I make the game brighter? Right now I am playing and in dark areas like jungles and caves I cannot even see 2ft in from of me. I have tried setting my gamma in the video options but this only effects my main desktop, once I enter the game it turns itself back dark again. In most games you have a option to change the gamma settings up but I cannot seem to find any slide bars to fix my issue.

Any suggestions?

You might check to see if your card has a gamma option of its own?

Under win XP the method to check this would be:

Right click anywhere on your desktop and click properties OR start > control panel > apearence & settings > display

Click the settings tab.

Click the box labled advanced next to troubleshoot...

Look for a tab that has the same name or even the logo from your card. Ati usually uses thier logo, while nvidia (geforce) usually uses thier logo and whatever model card your using.

A gamma option for the card itself will appear under Color Correction or a similar name. Note that increasing the cards gamma will effect EVERYTHING, including making your desktop brighter.

Aye, I tried this but it only effects the desktop and other games like wow or EQ, but once I load guildwars it converts back to same dark screens.

Im not sure then, my Nvidia gamma correction seems to be affecting all my games. This is the only viable solution I can come up with, I hope someone can come up with somthing for you.

Well you could try turning up the brightness on your monitor. Other than that, i dont think GW has a gamma setting (it should :P)

I'll second that, I too run it on windowed mode an' it works fine for me. What ye could try aswell, is install a older version driver (I run on 6.14.10.6517 myself, and it works fine. I doubt it'll work, but it's always worth a try?)

Grab that powerstrip, it will over-ride any of your gamma settings and limits. I used that when I had a very dark monitor, it saved me in online games.
