Hi, this is copied and pasted from a Program that gives you a Profile of your PC, so would run Guild Wars run on my PC:-

the cpu is fine
at least the 9600 but NOT le/ls version

more ram is always good and the 512 will be better than the 256

edit

make sure if it has an AGP slot on the motherboard for the upgrade as it will severely limit your video card choices if it does not have one

you would be limited to a pci card which is not to be confused with PCI-EXPRESS which is new and completely different

Consider the Geforce 6600 or Geforce 6600GT if you're thinking of spending that amount of money. It's a hell of a lot better than a Radeon 9800 and doesn't cost much more.

i can only speak for myself but my 6600GT has given me more performance than expected and no problems at all

Well the ATI Radeon 9800 has proven with it's specs it beats all the system requirements of GW so it's all I need, no need to order a 6600GT if it has WAY WAY more than the system requirements.

I'll be ordering the ATI Radeon 9800 for £26, and a 512MB RAM for £36 in a few hours.

You get what you pay for. As for faults, Geforce cards suffer no more faults than ATI cards, or any other type of card for that matter.

However, in your previous post you stated that you just want to "beat" the requirements for guild wars? In that case you should check out the Radeon 9600 series and save a little on pennies.

The ATI Radeon 9200 beats the requirements anyway as to my knowledge, I think it was 9000?

as long as you avoided the le/ls/se trap you will be very happy with the improvement over the onboard graphics setup

Sorry for the double-post, but the Edit graphic won't load for me to click, anyway, here's a link on a number of people who have problems with nVIDIA GeForce graphics card which I stated above:-

So obviously it isn't everyone, but it does have its faults and some peeps on there said they use ATI and it's fine.

That explains it.

I thought there was something funny about a $70 difference between a Radeon 9800 and Geforce 6600GT.

As for the Radeon 9200, it'll play this game fine. Just be careful not to expect anti-aliasing and all that.

Yes, anti-aliasing makes edges appear smoother. I wouldn't reccommend turning that feature up on a 9200, it can be quite a resource hog.

Yes, never buy any graphics card with "SE" or "LE" written on it.

Edit: If I were to suggest a 9200 graphics card, it would be this one, the Sapphire Radeon 9200 128mB AGP. It's also an OEM version, which means by sacrificing a pretty box, a couple of wires, and a booklet, you get it a lot cheaper.
