My pc currently has 512 with no upgrades, but i am not sure if I should get more. I am thinking that more RAM makes the game run faster. Is this true? Just to make thinks clear, I DO NOT own the game. I am just preparing so that I dont experience any problems in graphics, RAM, etc.

The game will perform better if you have more RAM than that. That is not just for this MMO, but for almost all of them.

Back when I played EQ I had 512 megs of RAM. Now I have 2 gigs. Big difference. You don't need 2 gigs. 1 gig should be enough. 512 will play but you can do better.

How much does RAM cost these days? I am not sure how much RAM i SHOULD have to get good quality playing GW, such as lag, graphics problems, etc. And my graphics card is a Radeon X300 SE 128mb. You dont have to remind me about the problems this card has. To me, it seems to be working great. No problems at all. Also, do you know a place that might sell RAM cheap, or at least a good price? I see many online stores that sell RAM, but i am not sure what kind I need. They have like printer memory, flash memory, and someother stuff. As you must know by now, I sometimes do not know much about this kind of stuff.

they are honest helpful and the prices are good to outstanding

as for your memory go to the website of any major brand (corsair, crucial,kingston, etc) and simply put in your pc make and model number and it should give what ram is for it
best check 2-3 to see if they agree

How do find your model #? And by pc make, do you mean what company made my pc? I have a gateway. would that be correct? and also, I am not 100% clear on what I have to do to find what memory I have. I went to corsair, but I dont know where to look

It gives me a whole lot of options, but im not sure what to click. a tiny bit more help plz, and i will be finished

when you run it it should give you a bunch of different choices

in the bunch for system information (information modules) the mainboard information module should be the top row 2nd from the left

double click that and wait while it gets the information than check out what you have

I stated this also in the video card thread: tech savy people sometimes don't realize that they're tech savy and use terms that the rest of us don't understand. I'm not at home, but when I get home I'll be checking this info vs. my own computer to see if my RAM is okay. So thank you in advance for advice you have already given. : )

darkhood21, the easiest way to tell the amount of memory you have is to just right-click on "My Computer" and go to Properties. It will tell you your processor speed and RAM amount in the bottom pane.

Dark -

Just find out which motherboard you have (model number is good) and find out what type of RAM it uses. Alternatively, find out the speed of the RAM you already have.

Then go to NewEgg and look up that speed of RAM. Either Corsair or Kingston are good manufacturers.

If you have trouble, feel free to post here or PM for help.

Remember, there are only three mistakes you can make when getting more RAM:

1.) Installing a speed that your motherboard doesn't support. (Causes lots of instability.)
2.) Installing two different speeds of RAM. (Causes minor instability.)
3.) Installing a crappy brand of RAM. (This one depends on how lucky/unlucky you are.

that would be the maker of the chip

a few lines down is the information you need

the type of memory (example 256 mb DDR-SDRAM)

and the speed (example pc 2100 ) the extra numbers are not needed

1 GIG of PC3200 RAM (512x2) can be purchased for around $85 these days.
An ATI Radeon 9800Pro is around $130.

we are getting there

a couple lines lower should be a line saying the speed of the ram such as 2100 2400 3200 etc

you have standard DDR ram and all you need now is the speed so you can buy the same speed to match what you have already

edit

it is 2 lines lower and the speed will have pc in front of it

most likely guess is pc2100 without seeing it

next step is to go to a place you trust to buy it and you ask for pc 3200 DDR-SDRAM or simply pc3200 DDR ram in the size you want (another 256 or a 512) just get a major brand like corsair, micron, kingston etc

i am currently using a 256 and a 512 in this one but the one i am in the process of putting together now will use 1 gig (512x2)
