I do not believe the card is the issue here. It is not overclocked and the temperature stays pretty low. I have two case fans and the memory does have heatsinks. All the other games I play i.e. Splinter Cell CT, Half Life 2 etc. do not suffer graphic glitches and they are very GPU heavy too. The other reason why I do believe it is software related is because up until now it always seems to start right after loading a new area.

Cooling isn't the issue for me here. I have 2 120side case fans blowing right over the card and cpu. The card itself is running at pretty nice temps. It might very well be an nvidia issue. Since I have a friend playing with an ATI and he has no graphics issues.

What is everyone using connection wise(ie cable, dsl, dialup, shared wireless broadband router)? I ask cause I was over at my sister's house last night and I was using my brother-in-laws' laptop with the mobile 6800GT and I encountered this error while using his wireless setup, but when I switched to his desktop which is hard wired to the network, bang no problems!!!

I'm also seeing this problem with a Leadtek 6600gt, latest nVidia drivers. I don't think it's overheating b/c the max temp I'm seeing is 70, which doesn't strike me as error territory. Otherwise I'm using an A64 3200 and a wired connection to DSL. Today I noticed I started getting buggy vid about 15-20 minutes before it crapped out on me (streaks, missing panels, etc). But when mine dies, I have to restart the computer to get everything working again - alt-tabbing to the desktop puts me a bizarre resolution with only 16 colors, and I can't get out of it.

Haven't heard of anyone with an ATI or even a non-6600 or 6800gt card having this problem, so it seems to be an nVidia bug? Anyone manage to fix it yet?

As stated earlier I have the 6600GT and do not have any problems at all, which is making me shake my head. Who has AGP and who has PCI-E (Express). Also, what location are you connecting from? I am in Washington State, USA and I am at a complete loss. Service packs installed, different mem configurations, what could it be..

Sorry, should have said. I'm using AGP, and am connecting from Northern California.

XP SP2, 6600GT AGP, 71.84, ADSL 3200/768 kbps, The Netherlands. Maybe it's driver related?

Same issue here, Athlon64 3000+, GeForce 6600GT PCI-E, 1gb RAM, running on 4 mbit cable... every now and then, the graphics get all stuttery, bits and pieces will either disappear or start flying around, then the screen goes all blue, usually with a red square someplace. If I'm really lucky I can minimize and get back in and it's OK, but many times it just stays like that, and Windows gets stuck in 800x600x4 color mode, and only a reboot will fix it. It's almost gotta be an Nvidia driver issue, although I'm running the newest version currently on Nvidia's website (71.89).

That is one pretty nice mod'd case / setup. Also one of the largest damn rigs I've seen in a long time. I was mod'ing my old puter before giving it to the girlfriend, so it was only maybe half way done.

The new one I bought last month I'll be working on soon. More of a fan of the blue / green setup light wise. Need to find some decent paints / side panel covers.

Once I get it going, I'll take some shots for you to gander at.

Has anyone tried doing a tracert to arenanets servers to see if thngs are getting dropped. I would do it, but I am at school right now. Will try when I get home. Ok, I did some research and Arenanet is located in Seattle, Washington. Don't know if the game server for US is being hosted there, but if it is it only puts me 45 miles from the server. It is actually beginning to sound like dropped packets of information more than a graphics card issue.

Just a me too, me too post.

Got the red screen o' death, fixable by min then maxing GW (first and only time so far).

And yup....Geforce 6800 here. Not overclocked. Temps on my computer including my video card stay very cool (cant afford to upgrade every few months, so I made a good investment in cooling to maximize the life on my components).

I am betting this is an Nvidia issue with GW. Hopefully adressed soon.

Hey...atleast you can fix it by min/maxing the GW window. Could be worse...could have to cold boot every time.

Some of us DO have to cold boot every time. min/maxing doesn't work for me and a couple others.

Yup, I usually do... after GW freaks out, my system gets stuck in 800x600x4 colors. Only way to get back to normal is reboot. And I play at the same res as my desktop, 1280x1024x32.

I am really beginning to think this is something other than an Nvidia issue as I have also read of people with ATI cards having issues also. Has anyone played with bios settings related to graphics? Try turning off Fast Writes for AGP (don't know about PCIx).

Don't think it's related to FastWrite... but still here...

In case it helps I'm running a Chaintech Geforce 6600GT 128mB AGP in 8x AGP mode with fast writes enabled and I'm not getting any problems at all.

I'd be curious to know if ANYONE is still having this problem since they did the latest updates. I haven't seen it since.
