Default Error 7 Help For Newbie

Hi ill try to give you as much info as possible. Ive had the game for 3 days, and for the first day I had no problems at all with it, then on the second day the loading screen would get to 100% and just stay there until an error message came up saying "error=7 please try in a few minutes". I then tryed to get in for the next 5 hours with no joy until about 11 oclock when I was let on only to find my character wouldnt move forward or backwards, I could only look around. This happened for about 30 seconds until it booted me out to the login screen. After this it wouldnt let me in again so I gave up. The following day I ran virus checks and made sure my GFX card drivers were updated and there was no Ad-ware, and Spyware on my pc, and looked to see if anything else was running that was malicious. Couldnt find anything so I tried again and the same thing happened however I noticed that if I started a new character it would work more frequently with that, not having the same problem as much. I took the radical step of deleting my level 9 character and started again, building a totally new character. I didnt have any problems today (Sunday) until I got to about level 6 in character and now the same things happening again. I was in the middle of a conversation at Ascalon and my character wouldnt move, and I havent been able to get in since (for about 2 hours). Note that it always lets me choose my character and log into my account but 95% of the time it freezes when the games loading up and comes up with an error=7. Normal internet browser works fine as does other online games. Any help is much appreciated as I love the game and it would be such a shame to go to waste (not to mention a waste of money). My system specs are:

AMD Athlon 64-bit +3200
Geforce 6800GT graphics card
1GB Ram
Windows XP Home (SP2)

thanks

What kind of connection do you have? Do you have a router or switch? We need your network setup to help you with a connection problem ...

I have had similar intermittent issues as well, very rarely, as I believe they are simply server LAG issues. I dont know that this is the case for you, but you should look into your network set up. List your connection stuff, DSL?, router?, WLAN?, etc.

Err=7 - Connection Problem.

Help Index

So far since you can't really do much of anything so far without freezing up or losing connection, I can guess you have a firewall and/or router?

If your running a Netgear router, you need to open up a port (how to do this is located in the index).

Make sure your firewall is allowing access for the game to work.

The port is 6112.

Let me know if any of this has helped.

I'm also wondering about something. When you drop from the game, is your modem lights still flashing properly? Or have they reset?
