Default computer restarting when i move items out of my inventory.

for those of you who read my first post... yeah, i found the problem (at least part of it). aolwbspd.exe was literally LEECHING my CPU. i didn't realize it until now. so i deleted it <_<;; (yeah that was a risk, but it was right in the recycle bin if there was a problem, i could have restored it). well it DIDN'T need that damn program to run waol.exe. so, HA. i hate you, america online, but my mom loves you. -_-;
anyways. on to the next problem.

that reduced my lag enough so that i could play. i still play with lowest resolution & absolute lowest detail, but there's a little lag which i can't seem to nix.
here's the fatal problem:
about 75% of the time after i open my inventory & try to move something out of it, the game flashes & goes straight to the (yes, THE) blue screen. then i have to restart.

this really sucks & it's come to the point where i squint my eyes & cross my fingers every time i attempt to mess with my inventory. let me tell you how much that helps the problem. <__<

windows seems to think it's my video driver. but i updated the mother #*&%@#%*! oh yeah. & calling dell to ask them about it? i have to pay FIFTY DOLLARS to talk to a consultant. okay. i payed that much for the GAME! uggggh.
here's the page. http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response...916c9a&SID=683

sorry if i seem impatient & immature, but this has really been bothering me.
thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

First of all - what are you system specs? Drivers?

Second - have you tried uninstalling AOL and then reinstalling it (uninstall, reboot, reinstall latest version) ?

Like I said - try reinstalling AOL. If you don't use it, uninstall completely. Also, post the type of video card that you're using, and the operating system with service packs/updates (if any).

Here is some info from the aol.com website on the file you deleted:

A. What is TopSpeed™ technology?
TopSpeed technology is a feature of AOL® 9.0 Optimized SE/LE designed to speed up your Web browsing experience. TopSpeed technology does this by creating its own local browser cache on the computer, then using this cache to check for graphics before seeking out the AOL® service for the information.

B. TopSpeed™ Web Acceleration Technology and the Windows® Task Manager:
TopSpeed Web acceleration runs in your Windows Task Manager as either AOLWBSPD.EXE or AOLTPSPD.EXE. If you were to perform End Task on this feature, TopSpeed Web acceleration will be turned off but will restart itself the next time you launch AOL.

C. About the TopSpeed cache:
The TopSpeed cache has a minimum size of 32 MB. The contents of the cache are not available for viewing.

Clearing the TopSpeed cache:
1. On the AOL® toolbar, click the SETTINGS icon.
2. Click the INDEX tab.
3. Click the INTERNET (WEB) OPTIONS link.
4. Click the AOL BROWSER tab.
5. Click the CLEAR STORAGE button.

D. Using TopSpeed technology with a Firewall:
TopSpeed Web acceleration functions differently than our normal connection. It requires its own port much like the AOL client requires its own port. Instead of using port 5190, the TopSpeed program will search for an open port to connect within the range of port 11523. If port 11523 is not available TopSpeed Web acceleration will attempt to use other ports like 11524, 11525, 11526 to connect.

E. Turning off TopSpeed technology:
1. On the AOL Toolbar, click the SETTINGS link.
2. Click the INDEX tab.
3. Click the INTERNET (WEB) OPTIONS link.
4. Click the AOL BROWSER tab.
5. Select the 'Do not store Web pages' option.
6. Click the OK button.

F. Deleting the TopSpeed program (AOLWBSPD.EXE or AOLTPSPD.EXE)
If you delete the TopSpeed executable file (AOLWBSPD.EXE or AOLTPSPD.EXE), TopSpeed will be permanently removed from your computer. You will still be able to browse the web but will not be able to take advantage of the quicker caching provided by TopSpeed.

Note: If deleted, the only way to reinstall AOLWBSPD.EXE or AOLTPSPD.EXE is to reinstall AOL 9.0 Optimized.

For information on TopSpeed Web acceleration, please go to AOL® Keyword: TopSpeed.

To give us some basic system information, go to Start, Run and enter "dxdiag". The DirectX Diagnostic Tool will pop up. Click the last tab to the right, More Help. Click the third button down, MSInfo. The System Information window will open (if there's a better way to get to this, somebody please post it). The left hand pane should have System Summary selected. Click in the right hand pane and go to the menu to Edit, Select All...then Edit, Copy. Then, right-click and Paste (or Ctrl+V) this information into your post. The formatting will get a little skewed but don't worry about it.

Sounds like you have an Intel onboard, which IIRC everyone bluescreened when moving stuff in their inventory.

Intel onboard? I'm guessing you mean that he is using built-in video card?

If so, you need to get the latest drivers for the card + updates for windows xp (try drivers first). Also, do something about that AOL as it obviously screwed stuff up with the files you mentioned.

Sorry, one more thing. Go back into dxdiag and go to the display tab. Tell us the video card name and the approximate memory, please. If you are running the onboard Intel graphics, you may just need the newest Express drivers (read about those solving a problem a while back).

Dell Dimension 2400 is it? A quick visit to Dell's site shows that it's a Celeron 2.4GHz with a built in video card (unless you had one installed at a later time).

If so, then find out what video card you have through dxdiag. If it's the Intel one, then have a look here: http://support.dell.com/support/down...&os=WW1&osl=EN or go to intel's site and see if they have something even newer.

GOOGLED IT.
FOUND IT.
INSTALLED IT.

well i spent about a minute solely fidgeting with my inventory & not a single malfunction.

now the game runs without any major problems, but there's still the lag issue, which is tolerable... but if there's any way to fix that without buying a new computer part, i would love to exhaust every option before i start splurging my graduation money. i've got a lot of ebaying to do with that money. <_<;
