OK, im a noob at computers and i have the same problems but with my comp rebooting sometimes and i get a message saying that the game has closed itself because of an error. Everytime i read one of these messages, im seein that all of the people have XP as the OS so, i think there could be a problem
with Xp but like i said, im a noob so there. Nananana na na na, im a noob, NA

....Until you realize that the vast majority of players has XP anyway so you can't compare it with other OSes.

Well, none of the people playing Guild Wars on OSX or Linux are crashing at all, so it has to be a Windows issue.

I didn't think there was a version for Mac or Linux. Thought it was Windows only at the moment??

I know of a program that many people use to play Win32 games in Linux mode. I forgot the name, but it still may be a winxp prob, so he has a point, even though the vast majority of users have winXP

Well I'd say the reason that none of the OSX or Linux users aren't crashing is due to this:

Minimum System Specs:

Windows XP/2000/ME/98
800 MHz Pentium III or equivalent
256 MB RAM
ATI Radeon 8500 or GeForce 3 or 4 MX with 32MB of video memory
2 GB available hard drive space

I would think it would very hard to crash something you can't play. Software that allows you to use another operating system's program is call an emulator and that is client or the host machine side. I don't think that the servers would even allow you to connect although I know nothing about linux (Unix bit but no much) or Mac's OS.

Only if people can show they actually play Guild Wars on Linux or MacOS X. Would be interesting to find out, if anyone is out there.

As for WInXP being the problem, I think it's more than just WinXP that is causing any issues with this game. THere are a lot of problems being found, and the solutions don't revolve around WInXP at the moment, but more to do with Heat, PSU, Memory, Mobo issues etc.

If anyone out there is actually running GW on Linux or MacOS X we would love to hear from you and any concerns or issues you have with playing GW, if this Win32 program allows it to run.

A Linux app called Cedega (formerly Wine and WineX) will allow you to run many Windows-based games. It works great for most games such as CS:S, HL2, etc... Guild Wars runs fairly well. Everything works properly, but it's a tad slow - you wouldn't notice any difference if you have really good hardware though.

I'm not aware of any OSX native emulators which would allow one to play Windows games under the OSX system, but since OSX is based on a UNIX kernel then if you download Apple's X11 app you might be able to get Cedega (yes, the Linux app mentioned above) to run.
