Default chaintech geforce fx5200 256mb ..

i am going to upgrade to this card from an old geforce 2 gts 32 mb. at this point with the old card i have experienced ANY problems. but with everyone here talking about all these super cards, i thought it would be time to expand.

my mobo is an ABIT nforce nfs7....8xAGP
512 ddr2100
athalon 2200
antec trupower 430 w ps
4 fans
2 hardrives
2 optical drives
19" lcd

anyone see any conflicts...

no there won't be any conflicts..I'm not a huge fan of chaintech...but I guess they make good cards. it'll be a huge step up form your old card.

p.s. might want to look into upgrading your ram soon. the DDR2100 is VERY VERY old.

I agree that it will be quite a jump, but where are you buying the card and at what price? At newegg.com they have those for $46 (the 128mb version) if that's what you're looking for - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814145067

Personally I wouldn't choose a 5200; I would save a bit and spend about $160 on a GeForce 6600GT which would be much much much faster and quite a bit more future-proof than the 5200.

Exactly. And good luck on getting your money back from the rebates, I only get mine back 1/2 the time, and all they give me is excuses.

I wish you luck, I was using an old gf2 mmx440 64 mb card playing BF DC final, Bought a bargin nvidia $100 a lil over a year ago made by gigabyte... Let me tell you this 128 mb card could not keep up with the gf2... Hop in a chopper turn towards the city bang fell all over itself fps down to 4 , all sorts of texture problems... What happened nvidia? A 64 mb old card better than a better, newer comparable card?

Brought it back... went and bought a radion 9600 xt ($200) and have no problems to report... We have a member with a higher number radion that praises it... My vote was lost seeing a newer product get its ass kicked by a same brand older, lesser product...

I would not have been any happier with the 5200 if it was $20, its a bad chip design...

RADION see it... read it... remember it...

I dont' know.. i have a bit problem with the 5x00 series GeForce...
friend of mine got an old 5600 (he upgraded to an ATI x-something funky card... i mean.. a card name with LETTER!?... can't figure out.. i only works with numbers )
and put that 5600 in my Girl Friend's computer... every now and then when i play GW, it crash with a complete dark screen... monitor off to power saving...
so... i dont' know .. but i hard lot of bad stuff about the 5x00 series...
Just got a 6600 with my AMD64, then i gave my old 4200 to my GF's computer... both running happily with GW.. .. and i am more happy cuz i can play more often.. and she won't bitch at me that i always stay my home playing games.. i am staying AT HER HOME to to play game now

It's because most people have poorly-maintained systems. The fact it's working so well for you speaks volumes. If you do (God forbid) have any problems though, don't hesitate to ask us folks here.
