this in factseemsto be more of a motherbored issue it seems then anything else altho my PSU seems to be slighty lacking in power.

the asus website and the VIA area site all the issues with crashing and things are not rare thay seem very common if i had the money ide swap this mother bored out asap but i dont

I HAD the same problem. I however called my tech support up (Alienware in this case) and at first they gave me some BS about reinstalling the lastest nVidia drivers so i did that and of course it didnt work. So then i got a 'specialized' agent to work with me and he made me take a look at the video card and we found that the dual fans it had, had actually SHATTERED so it had no cooling ppower at all (we just got this comp...Alienware=Bad Shipping

) So like i think in the firts psot? he said keep xtra fans on it and it works for me

Did you have a Bios that doesn't save any of the changes you have made to it?

That is the main part of the OP's problems, but thanks for the info.

in case you guys didn't know... there is a HUGE difference in power supplies. there are several different version numbers of ATX (2.2 i believe is the latest revision) and several inconsistencies in power consumption have been fixed. when purchasing a power supply you should ALWAYS make sure it complies with at least ATX 2.03.

also, the manufacturer of the card makes quite a difference in the performance and specs of the card. you need to do temp readings and keep that baby under 50C.

as far as BIOS settings are concerned, i've encountered several BIOSes which require you to press F10 after changing ANYTHING. so if you change a setting, press F10 directly afterward and see if that keeps it. if not, we've run into several problems at work where the solder joints on the CMOS were f-ed up. either the pads were removed or the stuff inside the casing was messed up (vertically mounted CMOS sucks). check solder connections around the battery and all around the BIOS chip.

Sounds like the PSU. Most PSUs don't even use 100% of its capacity. 350w is way too low. AND IF this not an issue, then its the drivers. The 77.72s suck, so you need to find a stable downgrade. A lot say that the 71.89s work but you would probabaly be better off with the 76.44 betas. The 77.18 betas are also good.

I have a Geforce 6600GT and the latest 77.xx driver set will always give me lockups. Older drivers work perfect for me.

Right Oki if i half to repeat my self AGAIN.

First off i dotnt have a 350 PSU its a 400 q-tec the manafaturer may be the problem i know this.

Its NOT a mobo battery problem.
its NOT a GFX card problem its not getting to hot becuse i just have 3 fans pointing at it and my genral case temp is not over 30
as far as i know its not a jumper problem i just checked my manual and theres no jumpers that do shit like this.
its NOT the bios chip not inserted wrong.

im still thinking slightly a PSU problem but i dont no if the fact that if my PSU was underpowred that ide have the problem with underclocked CPU.

still open to ideas

Well, as you say, you can't save your settings in the BIOS, so I'm thinking you have something major wrong with your Mobo. Whether it's a lose BIOS chip or not, there is something wrong with the BIOS.

If you can't change anything in the BIOS and have those settings save, then it's faulty and will cause you all sorts of problems with your hardware setup.

So, either you get this looked at, or you're going to go around in circles.

I see no point in continuing this until you get that BIOS sorted first.

It's like trying to get a car running. There is a problem with the Oil Sump, but no matter how much oil you put in, it's still going to pour out. SO unless it gets fixed, the card won't run properly. Or the worst, You will blow up or damage parts of the car.

In otherwords, get it fixed or dmg the rest of your PC.
