Unhappy Image opening issue

Hello everyone, i got a problem when i try to open any image on my computer . The problem is that i was cleaning my pc yesterday, from useless folders, files and whatnot, and everything was going fine.Maybe i deleted something without noticing , i hardly doubt it though. Today I took a screenshot in guild wars, and decided to show it to my friend (was a beautiful screenshot of the southern shiverpeaks). A few minutes later, i went to open it, and this window poped up : http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/3479/untitled8eh.png

And that window pops up everytime i open ANY image at all on my computer. I went to my folder options in the Control Panel, just like it said but couldnt find anything that would fix the problem. Another strange thing, is that when i right click any image, and click preview, the image opens up perfectly fine, but when i double-click it, that window pops up . One more thing, when i right click any image, my right click window gets a new option called "shell", and i have totaly no clue what its used for or what it does. The only thing i know about it is when i click it, the same window pops up telling me to go to control panel-> folder options. Can someone please help me fix this ? Sorry I'm not too advanced with computers so i cant fix it by myself =\. Any feedback at all would be great.

P.S. I tried system restore to the day before this happened, but the system restore keeps failing.

This means that for some reason Windows doesn't know what program to use to open the .bmp file. Go back to the folder options and go to the "File Types" tab. Then select the "bmp" extension from the list, and at the bottom of the screen select "change". Now select the correct program which you previously used to open the bmp files from the list (the default program is Paint) and click "Apply". You should now be able to open the files again.

Most likely you removed a graphics program which associated pic files and now that its gone windows is confused as usual, goto folder options and click on file types and go down the list and choose restore for the pic file extensions that got knackered,etc..bmp,jpg,png.

or you can right click the file and click properties..when the properties dialog opens the right at the top of that window it will say "Opens With:" and should be blank OR say the name of the application it USED to open with. Just click change and select an image viewer from the list. If you need a new image viewer I suggest you download IRfanview. You can find it pretty quickly by using google.com
