Default SmartGART settings won't take

<span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="color: #FF0000">This information is outdated. Do not use.<br />If you need assistance please start a new thread.</span></span>

I just installed the Catalyst 5.7s (didn't even get the e-mail from ATi yet) with the Control Panel. I ran the cat-uninstaller beforehand and it says it resets all of your configs and so on and so forth. I went into my Advanced settings to set my 3D and SmartGART settings but when I try and set the slider to 8x, it asks to restart the computer. I do it and when I check on it, it's gone back to off. Also, why are the fast-write buttons grayed out?

Check your mother board bios setting to see if it's disabled.

Also is your an "on-board" ati video card. if there greyed out they may not be supported on your system.

How well does GW play on your system. Fast Writes doesn't give you a noticable increase.

Look at the title bar. They don't make X800s onboard. I'll check my BIOS.

Guild Wars plays great on it though.

Okay... So the AGP setting is enabled and so is the fast write setting. That's not it.

Isn't the X800 PCI Express?

If your card is PCI Express, you won't have AGP speed or Fast Writes.

Haha my motherboard is worth $90CDN, not to mention it's 3 years old. It's an AGP card. Any real ideas on what's going on that aren't stupidly obvious?
