Default Running Guild Wars w/Dial-Up

My computer meets the recommended requirements to the game. I run off of dial-up. Would it still run ok? Or would I just lag out a lot?

Also what about the downloads? How long do those take on Dial-up?

I believe the game will run off Dial Up, but will take time in downloading updates and any map and area updates that occur between instances and towns etc.

It could all depend on your overall system specs though as to whether it will run any good. Don't forget, if your system specs are no good, no matter the Internet Connection, it will be very poor, and running a poor system with Dial Up will be even worse.

Post a little more info on your system and you will get further and better answers.

Dial-up is more than enough to play the game on its own. You'll have noticeably slower updates and downloads, but you won't see any more network-related lag than most do (unless you're also downloading on P2P, anyway ).

Your system specs are just as important to this question (as succinctly stated by Dirkiess), so post them and then we can get you a more accurate answer.

i dont think you'll be able to play silky smooth with dail-up. you probably encounter some lagging like your character skipping when running. i dont know how badly it would be since i have broadband. i guess it will really depend on the server since some users with broadband have occassionally experienced lag. but since you said you comp meets the recommended requirements, i guess lag wont be that bad??? about the downloads, well so far the updates havent been that large so it'll probably take like 5-10mins for you.

to get a better answer of how dial-up and guild wars work together, make a new thread with or w/o a poll, asking users who play GW with dial-up and see what their comments are.
