Default Possible fix for Asus A7N8X motherboard crashing issue

This may be a bit extreme but it works for me. My A7N8X runs all other games perfectly only Guild Wars would have random system hangs, reboots, and CTD (crash to desktop). I kept thinking that it was a heat issue but temps were all with in acceptable ranges. Highest temps CPU 51c. Case 29c GPU 52c. I then noticed that the Asus A7N8X Northbridge chip only has a heatsync. I had a few 60mm Delta Black fans lying around http://www.thecardcooler.com/delta_b...specificat.htm I then attached one to the Northbridge chip and replaced the stock AMD fan with one as well. For those of you unfamiliar with the 60mm Delta Black fan it’s like placing a screaming 2 year old in your case. I recommend making a switch for the one over the Northbridge so one could turn on and off this fan. Also if you enable Q-Fan control in the BIOS it will bring the fan from 6800 RPM to 4000 RPM. Now with a Delta Black set to 4000RPM the highest CPU temp is 45c.

The game is now very stable.

Hope this helps,
Brother Darius

My system:
Asus A7N8X
AMD Athlon XP 3200+
3 sticks of Mushkin 256MB DDR 500 (PC 4000)
BFGTech GeForce FX 5700 Ultra 128MB
Windows XP Home SP2

Then it was a heat issue for you if replacing the stock fans and heatsinks with another helped your problems.

Glad you solved it....
