Default Why Why Why!?!?!?

Every time i try to play guild wars i can get in the game, play for about 5 minutes, then my computer entirely restarts. When i get back on it gives me this error message:

(Critical system error)

and lists these files as the files included in the problem:

C:\DOCUME~1\Casey\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER9a8a.dir00\Mini 080505-02.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Casey\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER9a8a.dir00\sysd ata.xml

when i delete those files, it restarts anyway and once it restarts the files are back again!!! i deleted them completely even from my recycal bin, and they still keep coming back and it says that they are responsible for it. please help me! i have 200 hous of GW invested and i still love the game and want to keep playing

The files you mentioned are system files that are creating during the bootup-process on your computer, or during normal use after said bootup, depending on your current version/build of windows xp home/pro/longhorn alpha etc. These files are used for:

The .dmp file is a dump file, meaning it deals with data and ram issues on your machine. You need not delete them or edit them in anyway unless you are a system engineer or system admin for a company computer, or a technician, lest you do damage. (no offense meant).

The sysdata.xml file is used internally, and has many system settings, registry key information, and other data that windows uses to function.

If you are getting this error, and repeatedly, I suggest you go here, and type in a search for the exact phrase you posted:

Sounds pretty much like one of those 2 things to me:

1) Something is wrong with your drivers. Try updating and re-installing all the critical drivers, like graphics card, sound card, network card, etc.

2) Files that you delete but that still come back are usually indicating a virus or trojan of some kind. You should check your system for viruses and/or spyware and the likes. If you haven't got any software for that, try Ad Aware for malicious software removal and AntiVir, they are free to use.

Hope that helps.

www.lavasoft.com

Download ad-aware and run it, sounds like spyware is re-installing itself

i did the search and it couldnt find anything for sysd ata.xml or Mini 080505-02.dmp. and it couldnt find anything. Autherfukz, I have no idea what my "critical drivers" are and no idea where to find them so that i may reinstall. i hate to bother but could you be a little more specific on HOW to do that?

Assuming you're running WinXP, you might have some kind of user profile corruption. Try this as a test:

1) create a new user ID with administrator rights on your system

2) log into that new user ID and run GW.

Does the crash still occur afterwards?

Go to Start->Settings->Control Panels->User Accounts.

Start the add user wizard and fill in the blanks =)

Thank you, but i was wondering if Quarentining (not entirely sure how to spell that) with a program such as AVG would help?

Default Well....

In all honesty seems ta me like he might be using an unsuported graphics card.. or he may just need to upgrade...

I was having that problem as well till i went ahead and uped mine to a mildly priced mx 4000

if ya find a decent dealer ya can up it for less than 50 bucks not to bad a deal

I have a radeon 9200 , the reccomended is the radeon 9000. Its not an issue with my graphics card.

I made a new user account and it worked well for about 2 weeks now those same files are in the new user and they are causing the same problems

This solution looks reasonable (As suggested above possibly a graphics card driver issue) :-
http://www.smartcomputing.com/techsu...&ErrorID=22210
I'd try this first.

If the above doesn't work you could try Step 3. only from
the following advice on another site,
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/1058892792
I think I read another post where someone said after changing the size of the swap file the error no longer occured but I can't find it now.

Also if you're not too confident with making these changes I'd ask a friend who knows something about them to give you some help, or at least be able to reverse any changes you make.
