Did you even bother to look at the Network Status page? They're having issues with the LA servers due to an internet backbone problem.

This has suddenly happened to me. I've been playing Guild Wars for some time with no problems whatsoever. On starting the game today, the game freezes at the "Connecting to ArenaNet" box and sits there.

* I'm not connecting through a router or hub.
* I'm on a home Network.
* I'm using the standard Windows XP firewall.
* I use AVG (free) Anti Virus. I don't use any other ISA applications.
* My ISP is NTL.
* I have a cable connection. My cable modem is in my NTL set top box with an ethernet cable running to an ethernet card in my PC.
* I'm located in Manchester, UK.
* Also, I seem to have full internet acess (browsing, email etc).

Note that I've tried disabling my Firewall and AVG software, but the same problem still happens.

I'm based in the UK so I can't belive the above network outage is affecting me ?

Any help anyone can give would be most ewlcome.

Cheers.

*bump*

Is anyone else still having this problem ?

Guild Wars Tech Support have suggested that I "Use your Guild Wars CDs to repair your installation of Guild Wars or re-isntall the complete game"

Will that really help ?

Would you belive it, it did.

I removed the game installation from my PC and installed a fresh from my game CDs, it now works fine.

I've no idea what the problem was, just one of those gremlins.
