being that old it probably cant render the modern textures and lighting, if your system is equally old as the card, I say get a new system, if not you may get lucky and find a standard old PCI card maybe at newegg.com....just get the best you can like the nvidia 5200. It is your card, but how are your other computer specs? Processor and memory.

It comes a time to finally put the old box to the side and get a new one. I still have a P3 800 Dell 4100. Nice solid older system. I put a Geforce 4 TI4200 card in it a couple of years ago. That is more then enough for the processor. The ram is maxed at 512meg. Mrs Dood uses that computer for her daily chit-chat online and her email. That is about what is left of that system. Even GW with the updates over the last few months have made it difficult to play with.

That being said....time for you to get a newer game box. You do not have to get the latest greatest. A two year old computer will do...and you probably can get one pretty cheap. Check the local paper.

Now with that being said too....this thread will probably turn into a bunch of guys telling you what you should buy/build. "Get this...and that.." Go with what you can afford. Like I said you do not have to have the latest tech. If you bought for example a P4 2.8Ghz(two years ago that was a high end chip) used.(Dicker&Deal for it) Lets also say it had a decent Hard Drive of 60GB. 512megs of ram and a not so good video card. (probably a AGP card) you can get one of those pretty cheap and add to that. Buy a newer video card(doesn't have to be the best one either) and add some new ram...if you have some extra cash then get a newer Hard Drive and make the original a Data second drive. Bingo...you have a newer system that will last you a couple of years. Think about it. The P3 you have now is about 5 years old. Getting a 2 year old computer used is a major upgrade for you and you saved allot of money.

You also can build a new computer on the cheap...that is if you are into it. Not everyone wants to build and put up with the hassle of it. Some people just like to have something that works when you turn it on.

Adding a newer video card in the system you have now will not do all that much. Your system will be slowed down(bottlenecked) because of the processor. The Geforce 4 TI 4200 that I stated earlier is more then enough for a P3. Anything more then that will not speed up anything. You are wasting dollars there. I know this...my Dell 4100 P3 800Mhz is maxed and it is chunky with Guild Wars. If it is chunky with this game then it is real chunky with any other newer game. Your older system still has it's uses...it is a decent internet computer...but it's gaming days are numbered.

Your graphics card is severely out of date. It sounds like you are talking about an ATI Rage 128 which is roughly equivalent to the Nvidia TNT series. These cards do not have a prayer at running guild wars. They are probably 8-9 years outdated at this point.
