Well i'm not so sure how good Crossfire is going to be from ATI, however unlike sli where the cards hace to be identical, in crossfire it doesn't, so you can have say 1 top of the range card, and one lesser, now that to me is a great idea, although it doesn't convince me yet, so I think nvidia my be the daddies on that score, but if ATI get crossfire to work as they say it will, 2 x1800xt's would be a whole lot faster than 2 7800gtx's in sli, though the normal joe public wont be able to afford £1000 or so for 2 graphics cards.. But as we all know this war will never end

Well the new x1800xt's arrive in the uk nov28th, one site has some x1800xl's in stock, but at £470 a shot, is a bit excessive, especially when I forked out £400 for my 7800

The top of the range one x1800xt will a bit faster than the 7800gtx, the specs for the ati card are roughly core at about 650 mhz and the memory about 1.5ghz, plus a new way the memory controller works(though I dont understand this fully yet), so on raw grunt ati is a bit more powerful, considering the new ati card only has 16 pixel pipelines compared to 20 on the 7800gtx(although it in reality its still only 16)

My question is really specific to guild wars and no other game. Which card would offer me the best looking graphics when playing GW.

Right now I am running GW on a Geforce2 MX (hard to believe, but true). Both cards will run better than the MX but I am leaning to the 128. Please correct my logic: if my CPU can push the MX to run (well enough), coupled with the fast GPU on the 6600GT 128, GW should fly and have the same graphic quality of a 6600 256.

Which card will make GW look the "coolest"?
I went through this, and after an examination of the benchmarks, the GT model is a far better card- you can do a google and look for the stats. The 6600GT 128MB is probably the best bang you can get for your buck as far as video cards.

But GW isn't that graphically intensive, anyway.

Buy the 6600GT 128MB, don't even hesitate.

because in my opinion ram = speed i used to have a 64 mb radeon 7000(very old) and 256 ram and it was ----! but then i updated my graphic card to a 256Mb radeoan 9550 and itwas stilll realy realy slow to in the end i bought anotehr 256 mb ram chip to pyt in the 2nd slot that would make my total ram 512mb and it works a treat now.

Heh, good good, because I funnily enough, I'm buying an AMD Athlon 64 (Venice) 3.5GHz processor and upgrading from 768 to 1024MB RAM.
