Default Teamspeak, etc. Players Speak Up!!!

i use Teamspeak, but i don't have a mic (i just listen). i think i love my Sennheiser headphones too much to get a mic/headset combo, but i am considering it. For those who use mics, what do you use? A standalone mic, a headset combo, etc.? What brand, how much, why did you choose it, etc.?

i am thinking about getting a standalone mic that i could speak into... it would be cool if there was a foot pedal or something to activate it, but i don't know if there is such a thing.

I use a Sennheiser headset with mic The PC155 are awesome. As for a mic switch, just define a key. I really hate people who use voice activation (and boot them from our server) because the last thing I want to hear is someone sneezing, coughing or chewing over the net!

What model, and how does it work? Doesn't the combo they have use open-air cans? i prefer the ones that totally surround your ears, and AFAIK there is no combo in that setup (but i could be wrong!!!).

I dont reccomend getting a stand up mic, and the mics that come on headsets are completly pants anyway (people dont sound like they actually sound like in r/l)

I reccomend getting a little round one that sticks onto somthing in front of you, like your monitor. Mine is a Labtec one.

Advantage of this is that your voice input volume is steady and stable.. when a mic is moved about on the desk listeners will complain that you become too loud or too quiet.

With having a constant and predictable volume its possible that groups on teamspeak can syncronise so that no one person is louder or quieter than another person AND never changes.. or only very slight changes needs to be made when new members join.

Teamspeak communication in PVP is vital so its worth spending £10+ but do take the effort to consider where you place it and 'how you sound' to other people.

In our guild we kinda frown on "key to speak" users and actually prefer voice activation. If you take the time to tweek your settings the right way it is fine. Key to speak can really get screwie in PvP or heavy battles in PvE. As far as headsets go, I will look at the Sennheiser. My headset that came with GW is ok but kinda sucks and I use a desk mike instead of the mike in the headset anyway. I recommend a USB headset instead of one with regular jacks though. Is that what the Sennheiser is? USB?

I need get a new mic because the one i have is really bad qualitty and I constantly have to hold it up to my mouth to gett the right sound level. Considering I have my own ts server it gets pretty hectic when my mic sucks lol
