Hello!

Here's my comp:

512mb DDR RAM
nVidia MSI 6800 LE 128mbDDR AGP8x
PSU 350W
LCD Flatron 575LM Monitor
Motherboard ASUS A7V33 (agp 4x)
Running in WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAl

Please read out the whole text and answer the best you can.

-My Problem-
I have a problem that is starting to get annoying. Before i bought GW i played, World of Warcraft and Counter-Strike. Both games worked good, No problems. When i started Guild Wars my system started to shutdown and such. I remembered my earlier years when my cooling was low, and that's why i checked the TEMPERATUREs. Everything was fine, like it had been. I start GW and run it for like 2-5min and system shutsdown, nothing overheated, No ERRORS, Just turns off Monitor and Comp.

-What i have done to solve this-
1. Format C:, Install new Windows XP Pro.
Installed Firewall, Anti-Virus, And Spyware cleaners.
2. Installed and uninstalled and Reinstalled all good nVidia
drivers that there is to my Geforce.
3. Looked in the forums, fan forums and such. No answers
4. And Yes, RE-Installing the game.

-Something that i have noticed-

Like i said i am running a AGP8x Graphic card, MSI 6800 LE 128DDR. My Motherboard only has a 4x AGP.
Can this be a issue ? Do i have to buy a NEW Motherboard even though i meet out the requirements to GW with my PC(1.700mhz, 512mb DDR Ram etc.) ?

Another thing is that my graphic card recommends 350W, and my Power Supply has 350W, should it be MORE for just GW ?
I noticed that my Volts(+3V, +5V and +12V) jump to like 12.60 when in GW before it shuts down. Do i really have to buy a new Power Supply only to play GW ?

I would really like to know where to problem to the Shutdown is. And please, do not bother to send any replies of reinstalling the game nor drivers, i have done that, and that's not the issue. If there's a known specific driver that makes the shutdowning stop, then feel free to say the version of the driver

. I love GW(the part i could play of it) and hope to you hear from you. I wouldn't want to pay +200€ extra of a motherboard and Powersupply, because my COMPUTER meets the requirements in the game, And i wouldn't want to sell GW either.

Running for a few minutes than shutting down is typical overheating, regardless of what your monitor shows. You're overheating SOMETHING.

WoW and CS aren't nearly as stressful for the system as GW is; you could try downloading some sort of stress-test (Prime95 or Super-PI, say. They will stress your CPU: if you can run one of those for an hour or so without crash then it's either your chipset, or, more likely, your graphics card which causes problems with GW).

Try updating directx, and all winblows updates, if its overheating to check use speedfan, and you shouldnt top 50C when you're max game playing, i mean it wont drop off till higher, so you might want to pop open your case and clear off your heatsink or such from dust/residue.

this is not a rare problem. my familys comp was doing that for a few months.
no idea why. met all the requirements for the game. somewhere in this forum, there is like a 30 page thread relating to this problem. reading all the pages didnt help. no one, including tech support, has a clue.

I've had the shutdown problem myself. I cleaned out dust from my 3 fans I have running inside and it hasn't done it since. It sounds like a heat issue to me.

I've had the problem in the past as well. Usually its when I forget to turn up my fans. An easy way to remember to do that, buy a simple fan controller for your case that fits into one of your drive bays. Whenever you startup the games, simply turnup your fans. I noticed that the only time my game will crash is when I forget to turn up the fans. My room sometimes gets alil hot (stupid heater that won't turn off) so I have to always remember to do that. It might be be getting too hot, and it might also be the power supply. I just recently ordered a 500W power supply, and I've had that same error you got. So I'll see how that works out.

I've also had the error when my Videocard Overheats, but my new one doesn't really do that anymore, so I don't really know any more after that.

You don't say what other parts you are running in your system...fans, optical drives, etc.

Also, what are the specs on your power supply? A 350W power supply running a 6800 video card IS NOT a good thing especially if it's a cheap, low-amperage power supply.

I'm betting your power supply is too weak for your system now.

I checked my processor overheating, and it's running at 45~ degrees when i play gw before crash. I should check the degrees of my graphic card.. any good softwares for that ? link here. I tested GW Tech Supports Power Supply Calculator, And added all my components in that calculator. I got the result that i would run fine even with 300W PS. Still, Thanks guys for all the answers, i really appreciate it. Thx
