I'm interested in finding out if I can install GW on a second computer at home (same network/ip address) and having someone play at the same time? Or do I have to buy the game again?

Buy again.

-Having it installed on two machines is called piracy.

-The machines do not have the same IP address. They might be on the same network, and your router might have one IP but your two machines have unique IPs designated by your router. You need to buy another game.

EDIT: the above response is what happens when you jump to conclusions...me=Arse on occasion.

By same ip, I mean internet IP address. I realize they have different network IPs LOL

Actually I have it installed on 3 computers, one of them being my laptop, that cannot possibly be considered Priacy, as they are all mine.

And Technically, to the outside they all have the same IP Adress =P

Router 4 Teh win.

But no if someone else tries to log on at the same time you do, with your account you get booted.

Yeah we have the same setup, I let my roomie try it out on my laptop before buying it (as we've bought like 4 online games this year alone,) and he kept booting me off so I had to go smack him =P

The good news is if you've already installed it, when you buy another copy of the game you just have to open up the box, scratch off the CD key, and enter it in.

Sweet good to know...although they have made the whole installation thing pretty painless. I looked at WoW and HL2 on my hard drive, both take up like 5+ Gigs...whereas GW takes like under 1gig...that rules.

You can buy a key off of the guild wars site. (The link is somewhere there, too lazy to look right now.)

Saves time, gas, and the chance they might not have any in.

I wouldn't worry about piracy of the client too much since anyone can freely download the client without ever paying a penny.

Section 3 says that you pay for the "license to use the Software in connection with the Service" on an individual basis.

Basically, installing Guild Wars on several computers is okay. Letting multiple people share the same Guild Wars account is bad.

We first bought ONE game. Then we found out we both can play a character but not at the same time. So I bought another game. No biggie. The point to having this game was so my daughter and I can play together. However, if we go over to a friends house that has this game installed it is nice to be able to just log in on your own account and play your character. That is not stealing. That is just plain smart. My Friend bought the game, I bought two games. I think Arenanet made thier money off us. It was a Fair Trade at the Merchant's Corner.

that's not entirely true...you can spoof IP addresses so that two machines have the same internal and external IP address...and accept information coming in on mirror ports...according to the internet the two machines would appear to be one.....though I doubt you could get GW to funtion properly without some serious port forward scripting and UPnP.

I don;t think it violates the EULA. in this case. You use the friend's client (which came free) and logged into his computer using YOUR account. You are as clean as a whistle.

Even you can install the client in as many machine as you like. Just like MSN, you install it multiple times, but have only 1 account. No violation. It is actually said in the manual: you can play anywhere there is an internet connection and able to install the client.

Now, the EULA forbid sharing of account. All four characters are under one account. It is a violation of EULA to play with one character and allow another person to play a second character using the same account.
