Question Norton Anti-Virus Scanning When in Game

Hey, when I'm in game my Norton Anti-Virus automatically turns on and scans on random days. It's annoying and I'm sick of this funk-junk. I know Norton is trying to help me, but I did'nt ask for it at the time. I think this version of Norton is about two years old. Can someone help me find out how to stop this scanning?

You have to minimize GW and go to your windows desktop. Right click on the NAV incon in your system tray. You should be able to stop the scan from here.

I will tell you how it works in my norton and maybe this will help you.

As the previous post said open NAV from your system tray.

Click norton anti virus from the control panel that appears. In the drop down menu you will see, status, scan for viruses and reports.

Click scan for viruses. You should see the scanning options. At the top of the list is, "Scan my computer" and next to it on the right, is an icon.

Click the icon, at the bottom of the menu that appears, click "show multiple schedules", now at the top, under the combo box, click delete. Now press OK.

You can check to see if it worked by going back to the "Scan my computer menu", the little icon you clicked to open the scheduling menu should now be gray.

This disables auto scanning for me. I hope it helps you.

When you set up Norton it will automatically set up a Scan once a Week. You can disable this completely.

For me I can play Guild Wars and still run my Norton....it doesn't slow me down at all.

I don't use Norton, but I use AVG.

AVG used to scan automatically at 8am and 8pm. To solve to problem, I simply disabled the schedueled tasks.

Ash.
