Sounds strange. I use the Linksys on my DSL connection (4meg), but with MAC Filtering rather than WEP. I found that using wep to secure the network tended to give me regular periods of 'limited or no connectivity' where my IP would change to a useless 169.254.x.x address. Since switching to MAC filtering, I haven't looked back .

A.N.T.,

You are using old video drivers. Update them and see what happens.

Ok, basically it fixed it. When i run in most areas it does alright, but it still lags. This time i noticed that the red light on the computer goes crazy when i lag. I remember reading somewhere about that, if the light blinks when you lag you have a setting you need to change. You know what it is?

Wireless g is orders of magnitude faster than most broadband internet connections, so in all likelihood any lag problems in GW are due to some component of the system other than the wireless network.

I play exclusively on my wireless network and never lag.

To throw in my two cents. I have a wireless network too, and had massive reoccuring lag and drops from the net after moving into my new house. Every comp (five -two towers, two laptops and a Mac Powerbook) is connected wirelessly and WEP encrypted. All had problems except the Mac. (Why the Mac worked well, I dont know) The distance to the router was less and even more open. Couldnt find the problem anywhere. Came to be that the old wireless was on its last legs and was fading in and out. It was sort of like breathing with the range and power Replaced with a new router ($35 after rebate) and I'm back to streaming music as well as playing both copies of GW with the wife at the same time.

i play GW with wireless.

i play Counter strike with wirless as well.

Guild wars i lag sometimes, counter strike i never lag.

This can only mean i need more RAM.

3 Ghz processor with only 256 RAM is insufficient when trying to load 300 + people in a town as opposed to 16 players in CS.

Thanks to this thread it confirmed my thoughts about my wireless phone screwing my connection. Every time my 2.4 ghz phone rings, I get disconnected. This is on a wired connection. I'm askin for a new phone for Christmas . I hope it all works out for those who have these problems. There's nothing more frustrating than being DC'd when I'm in a group or SF farming bosses with my son and the puters DC'd because the phone rings.

Hi,

I helped a friend with a problem like this with a Linksys router. You should probably update the firmware for the router if you are having issues. It is available on the linksys website.

Also do any of your neighbors have a wireless network? You can check for access points and what channels they are on using a tool like netstumbler. It is best if you are several channels away from them because the side lobes of your signal will overlap into other channels causing interference in adjacent channels.

Do you have any other lag of connectivity issues other than Guild Wars? Have you tried reverting to an open network temporarily to see if it is a WEP issue? We moved my friend to an open network and his connectivity problems went away on his Windows XP computer. We then tried WPA instead of WEP and he had no problems with Windows XP and his Linksys router. So you may also consider that. So worst case scenario make sure that you start with a simple open network and confrm functionality then add more to it when you are sure it is working. It makes it easier to try to isolate the exact problem.

Also I had a 802.11 wireless ISP for years and it worked good. Only had problems when they decided to route too many users, and too much traffic, through 802.11 towers instead of getting local leased lines, or different frequency higher throughput radio technologies. For 3 years it would run fine with counter strike and diablo 2 with no lag problems.

Hope this helps you some.

I'm on a wireless connection, and I run the came just fine, when my connection wants to work that is. When I'm getting a decent connection, the game runes perfect for me. When I lag, I know my connection is about to drop, and that is about 90% of the case. The other 10% is Err7....
