Exclamation Laptop ATI (9600 mobility) crash - simple solution: don't use ATI tray tools!

I have had problems with GW on my laptop which has an ATI 9600 mobility - the program starts, I log on, but I can not log my toon into the world without a crash to desktop. There were numerous suggestions I read about, among them to use catalyst 5.5.

Well I am using 5.7 and now it is working perfectly with a 1280 * 800 widescreen resolution:

Solution: Do not start (otherwise quit) ATI Tray Tools (I am using 1.0.3.720). This seems to be the source "of all evil" with GW and my config. NOT the driver version.

Otherwise a good tip, as for any other game with this mobility chip, is to turn off all shading effects (vertex shader - this chip doesn't have one I believe) to get acceptable to good, if not even sometimes great frame rates.

Could never really justify using third party tools when ATI's software seems good enough.

Hmm, might try the Omega Drivers, I've had trouble with the ATI Sapphire Radeon 9600 PRO Atlantis card, I'll download this and give my 9600 PRO ago.
