Default More than just graphics problems.

I've read about this in a couple of places, but I'm having the problem with my characters and backgrounds. Nothing is detailed- it's just silver shiny blobs. I know I need a new graphics card, but could anyone recommend one that's cheap that actually works? Also, I have more lag on this game than any game I've ever played. I defragmented it billions of times, and my C drive still only has 8% of free space on it. This computer is horrid. Fairly new, but besides the automatic Windows updates, there are no upgrades. So any suggestions to help speed it up would be nice until I can get my other computer to work. That computer, is just another story. It's fast, but everytime it turns on, it crashes or something.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

BTW, this is what my game looks like:

yep this is a very common fix for some graphical glitches, sometimes using an older graphic card drivers stops the glitches aswell

I am running a GeForce FX 5500 as well and wondering where you got your driver? Did you download it from the site or did you buy yours?
