Default Resolutions question

I noticed that my brother has higher resolutions (2000?x?)available on his computer than mine. We supposed this was due to the graphics card, until i got a new one (radeon x700 pro). Then we thought it was my monitor, but mine is much newer and similar qaulity (Samsung Syncmaster 955df) and i just downloaded new drivers for both.

Question - What is the highest resolution available for GW? And how do i make sure that GW finds the highest resolution available for my comp.

Please no negative comments on my hardware choices or you will make me cry.

Thanks.

Max for mine seems to be 1920x1440, which also is the max from Windows's display properties.

Try checking from there, what resolution is the max you can get from your comp, and then from your brother's.

According to datasheets, 955DF has maximum resolution of 1600x1400 at 68Hz.. talk about eye strain using that. But I'm guessing GW digs up the maximum resolution info from Windows.

Hello, resolution depends on 2 things video card and monitor, even if your vidoe card has a max resolution of say 2048x1536 your monitor may not. It may have a max of 1600x1200 for example. Or it may be that your grahpics card can't match the max resolution of your monitor. The best way to check is use your display properties.

EDIT - Guild wars, will only display available resolutions, If for example it wont go any higher than say 1600x1200, then thats the maximum it will go
