I would try making sure you have the most current version of windows media player. Also are you running on Windows Me?

Default yeah

Early with the SF update I would HALT every track change

isn't as noticeable now but I still lag worse there and still getting hammered

reality is DRM is a very poor model in a video game
imagine if this game was more twitch

but yeah last nite whole group 'lagged' hard in GF and you're making me think maybe it was more that, we got to SF and the whole group had gone in (oro mission) while I was still stuck at the gate for 10-15sec

if it's driving you nuts uninstall that music pack if you can
I dont do a ton of GF/SF so I havent yet

but it certainly made me go NO WAY to purchasing a music pack for the entire game

Make sure your have the most current service pack (Sp4) for Windows 2000,
(Just run windows update).

It appears you can't download Windows Media Player 10 (XP only ) so make sure you have the highest version of 9.

WMP can / or may not affect playback depending on how guildwars / directsong works. If it's using the core of wmp (example using it w/o gui) any issue with WMP will affect GW. If it's not any the WMP is only used for the DRM (aka you have the right to play this file only). It may be it checking it "file" everytime you play (not sure about this).

You may want to give directsong a buzz

Answer
Yes, there is. If you wish to contact someone at Direct Song, please use the following email address: [email protected].
This may also be related, make sure you have the most current motherboard drivers installed.

Like i said i got all new updates. The lag is awfull and becouse of that i don't eaven want to buy any other packs.. Why to spent money on service that don't work propally.. It's a shame really becouse that music is great.

Anyone tried to convert wma to mp3 and change the GuildWars.ds file that it plays those mp3 files instead of wma files?

I spoke too soon guess I play elsewhere most of the time - Going back there for a long run now (where actually both monks stuck around for SF) I had same thing with 5-20 second freezes periodically (seemingly between tracks) and will look to uninstall it now. Yeah its not lag but outright stops - it can very well be play ending, and for the same reason yeah, never considered expanding with purchasing more of the music because of this.

I have windows xp and media player 9
Eternal Tempest I see I can get WMP 10 (clicking on it from WMP itself made me have to type this for a second time, cute :b) - this might help?

I've dl'd it... might wait to install it till I get some sleep tho heh

Either I give this a run and does the trick or I'm searching for how to uninstall it - makes those zones where it's used unplayable.

Have to see what they have planned for Chapter 2...

Default Loading...

Hi, hey...
yeah, i get that, and it is because its loading the tracks & checking drm. i upgraded my soundcard (which has ram on it dedicated to sound, yey) and now it only does it @ the very beginning while it loads the whole deal. methinks.
kind of annoying and a horrible marketing attempt if you ask me. music is great. deliver... quite shoddy. too busy protecting their music to just let it be mp3 (its free anyway) and play it ourselves. damn drm. >.<
not buying the pack. no sir. (although i wish i could hear it)
have a great day.

I have all three music packs and no problems so far. However, some users seems to have problems so read this:

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...1&postcount=13

Converting those WMA files to MP3 is probably against the license so it would be illegal process. Probably wouldn't be a good idea to ask more about it.

Zeal you may have the elusive answer about "delays".

The only think I could think of is find someway to convert them to non drm versions regular WMA and swap the files but I think that would be considered "hacking" so that's not really an option.
