Ok heres what happens, I start to notice that GW is having picture problems when I try to create a pvp Character, then it crashes. I reboot and I send the error report to microsoft, they suggest downloading "Intel Extreme Graphics", ok so I click the link and download is shortly. Ok great no crashes...Then a little while later It stops crashing the way it did before and shutting the whole computer down now it just closes GW and a little window pops up and says "Error" "out of memory" ExeFile.cpp(110). This occurs every hour or so...I just let it slide...now its been happening for about 5 days and I really think I need to fix this. Any suggestions?, I'm not very great with computers and this is probably one of those "Oh Duh" answers, I use Windows XP, not sure about everything systemwise but it has NEVER done this before.

What's your system specs?

RAM, Processor, Graphics Card, etc. But I'm presuming you have an integrated Intel card, soo...

If you don't know how to get that information, then;

"Out of Memory" errors are 99.9999% of the time software errors and have nothing to do with your actual physical system memory. They are caused by application errors like call-stack overflows (non-terminating loops and such), variable overflows (the program tried to store a value in a variable that was too big for it to hold), memory leaks (memory being used is not being deallocated), and other software glitches.

My guess is that your new video driver didn't install correctly, is a bad version of the driver, isn't getting along with something else on your system, or something like that.

From where did you download your new Intel video driver? Did you follow a link provided by Microsoft, or did you go to Intel's web site and track it down? I would suggest trying to find the most current version of the driver, then trying to remove all traces of Intel video drivers in your system, then try to re-install the new version of the driver clean. You may even want to un-install and re-install Guild Wars just to make sure there isn't any kind of corruption in your install.

Since I don't have any experience with Intel video adapters, can someone tell us what is the best way of going about cleaning the driver out of your system, and where is the best place to find a new, stable driver?

Hmmmmm.......ok. It seems that Intel has been working on making their drivers for their Extreme Graphics adapters DirectX9 compliant, and in the process have managed to bollocks them up but good. As I said, it's a software (driver) problem.

It looks like you might do better with an older version of the video driver. Check out this thread for information on what other people did to fix their problem:

the safest way is to go to the device manager and uninstall the driver. it will prompt you to restart. accept the restart. the computer will run on the standard VGA driver. after that, you can install the driver. if you're using xp, it will prompt you automatically.

one more thing: make sure your region and language is set properly. mine installed in chinese -.-

This is _very_ difficult too sometimes, suprisingly.

Had an Radeon 9800Pro. My windows got once again messed up bad, so I reinstall. Try to cram in the driver. Driver install says that there already is a driver installed, remove it first.

So I uninstall the driver, run through DriverCleaner3, and restart. The driver says that there already is a driver installed. I check it up, and indeed there is. Delete it again, drivercleaner3, reboot into failsafe mode, try to install driver. Plug'n'Play service is not running. And that doesn't start up in failsafe. D'ooooh.

*getting frustrated*

Back to windows, and after downloading a heap of drivers, one Omega driver finally goes in. Yay.

Haven't had similar problems ever before tho, hope others won't bump into that either, very annyoing.

Oh, by the way, ignore the posts in that thread that suggest adding more RAM. Look at the ones about checking your page file size and the version of your video driver. Those are the two things that seem to be fixing this problem for people on this site as well as others.

try this next time:
before inserting the new card, uninstall the old card's driver. the computer will prompt you to restart. click no, and then shut down the machine via the normal way. insert the card, start up, and the computer will start with standard VGA. THEN install the new driver.

what you described above is almost like the old windows 95 multiple installations error. i once installed two new programs on my old win95 without restarting for each. i had to reformat the stupid thing.
